Florida Woman Stuffed Fentanyl Syringes in Her Own Body After License Plate Scam Flops

PALM COAST, FL - Authorities said that a woman has been arrested after allegedly concealing half a dozen syringes and fentanyl inside her body while being booked for attempting to pass off a borrowed license plate.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) said that on Sunday, June 15th, deputies were patrolling Citation Boulevard when they noticed a white Chevrolet pickup truck with a license plate that didn't match the vehicle, CBS12 reported. The charging affidavit filed in the case also said that the "driver's side seat belt" was "dangling near the door," according to Law & Crime.

A deputy wrote that such a seatbelt is "consistent with the driver not properly wearing" their seatbelt. Deputies stopped the truck to question the driver, who was then identified as 34-year-old Jessica Reno from Ormond Beach, Florida. When asked about the seatbelt, Reno allegedly apologized for being "in a rush."

FCSO said that during the traffic stop, deputies discovered that Reno's driver's license was suspended and her vehicle registration had expired. Reno allegedly told deputies that the license plate had blown off her truck, so he borrowed one from a friend's vehicle.

Reno allegedly admitted that she was aware of her suspended license and had an upcoming court date after previously being caught driving. She also said she used her friend's license plate after her own license plate "blew off" her truck, "approximately" six days prior to the traffic stop, as noted in the affidavit.

When asked, Reno told deputies that she had no narcotics or weapons on her person. However, a more thorough search conducted at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, including the use of an X-Ray machine, uncovered a sock hidden inside Reno's genitalia.

Inside the sock, deputies reported finding six syringes and a small plastic bag containing two grams of fentanyl. "Between trying to pass off someone else's license plate as her own and not telling deputies about the fentanyl she had hidden inside of her, this woman did a lot of things to try to trick law enforcement, but she was unsuccessful," FCSO Sheriff Staly said in a statement.

Reno has been charged with driving with a suspended license, attaching an unassigned registration plate, introducing contraband into a detention facility, possession of fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a $11,000 bond.
