SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Police say 23-year-old Mackenzie Lueck has been missing for more than a week after reportedly ordering a ride on the smartphone application, Lyft, reported Fox News.
The university student attended a funeral in Los Angeles and was returning back to Utah on a flight on June 17. Reports confirmed that Lueck arrived at the airport in the early hours of the morning and ordered a ride through the Lyft app, which works the same way as Uber. A user inputs their address and a driver in the area facilitates the ride. All monetary transactions are done electronically and there is no passing of cash.
The inputted address was designated to bring the young woman to a residence in North Salt Lake.

But the Salt Lake City Police Department said she was last seen “in the early morning hours of Monday” and is still missing.
According to reports, Lueck’s family said that their daughter texted them to tell them that she had landed and was safe, but haven’t heard from her since.

On Thursday the 20th, her family reported her missing to police.
The company Lyft publicly commented on the disappearance on Sunday, saying that they “recognize how scary this must be for those who know and love Ms. Lueck.”
“The safety of our community is fundamental to Lyft and we are actively assisting law enforcement with their investigations,” Lyft said, noting that Lueck’s route from didn’t contain any “irregularities and ended at the destination as originally entered by the rider.”
So if Lueck got to her destination, what happened next? Is the driver somehow involved, or did she disappear after they dropped her off?
Police apparently aren’t looking at the driver, as Lyft reports showed that Lueck’s driver continued to pick up more riders following Lueck’s ride.
But Lueck’s roommates claimed that she never arrived at the off-campus home and her car has not been moved from its location. They became alarmed when they noticed her phone was shutoff and she didn’t show up for a midterm exam.
Though authorities have not found any reason to believe that Lueck has been put in danger, investigators are still frantically trying to locate her.
