UNIONTOWN, Ohio – A Uniontown police officer was shot late Sunday night while responding to a domestic violence call, reported WKYC.
The Uniontown Police Department confirms a man at a home on Lela Avenue NW fired at officers, hitting one of them four times. The officer, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital and was undergoing surgery.
The suspect was shot and killed when officers returned fire.

The extent of the injuries incurred by the officer were not reported.
“His vitals are good but more procedures will be done,” the police chief posted as an updated on Facebook early Monday morning while asking the community to keep all officers in their prayers.
