Antifa militant with ties to MS-13, 2 Seattle teachers charged after anti-Israel Seattle highway blockade

SEATTLE, WA - Six people have been charged with misdemeanors for their involvement in a blockade on January 6 that shut down Interstate 5, trapping emergency vehicles and motorists for more than five hours.

The anti-Israel protest drew around 200 protesters onto the northbound lanes of the interstate while hundreds more supported on overpass bridges in the area.

According to The Post Millennial, among those charged are two teachers with Seattle public schools and “an Antifa militant with ties to the MS-13 gang.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) filed the charges last week.

Popular radio talk show host Ari Hoffman obtained documents and took to social media for public awareness. “Meet James Whitney Kahn Parker AKA James Parker, Whitney Kahn, James Whitney Kahn, Benjamin Ovitz. Whitney is yet another pro-Hamas teacher for @SeaPubSchools. He bragged about shutting down I-5 on Sat. for a rally to support terrorists,” one of Hoffman’s posts read.

A self-proclaimed “anti-Zionist,” Parker himself took to social media to brag about his involvement in the January 6 blockade, as well as previous protest involvements such as shutting down the University Bridge which also impacted travel for hours, and the Space Needle. All of this to “demand a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas terrorists.”

The Franklin High School paraeducator also touted the success of himself and his group in not being arrested due to the volume of people present on I-5. “Our numbers were so vast that no one was arrested. We keep each other safe!” one of Parker’s posts on social media stated.

Parker later complained at a school board meeting that he is being “doxed by right-wing extremists for participating in a peaceful protest.” Ari Hoffman shared that video to his social media.

“Parker is also a member of the Seattle Education Association teachers’ union and the Democratic Socialists of America,” Post Millennial reported. He reportedly regularly attends socialist and Marxist protests and actively participated in the 2020 BLM/Antifa riots.

Joseph Subido, a Ballard High School special education and humanities teacher was also charged in the January 6 blockade. Before scrubbing his social media account, Subido briefly had a video up of himself on the freeway during the protest. His Instagram reportedly had a fundraiser link for the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. The fund supports the Al-Rantisi hospital, which is reportedly used by Hamas to store weapons and serve as an operations base in Gaza against Israel.

Edward Mast was also charged in the blockade. Like the others, Mast regularly participates in Seattle area protests. His wife, Linda Bevis posted on her social media that the Northwest Community Bail Fund, which has a strong commitment to abolishing prisons and defunding the police, bailed the SeaTac activists out of jail.

A woman with ties to Antifa and MS-13 has also been charged. MS-14 is “one of the world’s most brutal street gangs, internationally known for their violent murders,” Post Millennial reported. Christina DeVitt has a criminal history with her activism, including causing damage during the 2020 riots to the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct. She also scrubbed her social media accounts when she learned about the charges.

Michael Moynihan and Rizwan Sawad were charged as well. Both of them regularly attend anti-Israel protests.

The activists are scheduled to be arraigned on May 1 at 8:45 a.m.
