Trump Tells NRA Convention “Assault” on Second Amendment Over

President Donald Trump spoke to the National NRA Convention in Atlanta Friday and declared that an “eight-year assault” on Second Amendment rights has come to a “crashing end.”

Assailing former president Barack Obama’s record on guns, Trump told the crowd, “You have a true friend and champion in the White House.”

The president was received as a hero during his speech, in part for successfully installing a conservative Supreme Court justice, Neil M. Gorsuch, seen as a likely protector of gun rights, the New York Times reports.
