During final presidential debate, Trump presses Biden on lack of criminal justice reform while Obama was in office

Share:

During the final presidential debate on October 22nd, President Donald Trump pressed Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden on his support of the 1994 crime bill and several bills in the 1980s that essentially escalated the war on drugs, which led to a huge mass incarceration problem across the country.

The former vice president responded by claiming the bills he supported more than two decades ago, which adopted a “tough on crime” stance, where mistakes. During the debate he said:

“It was a mistake. I’ve been trying to change it since then. Particularly the portion on cocaine. That’s why I’ve been arguing that, in fact, we should not send anyone to jail for a pure drug offense.”

Trump responded by saying:

“But why didn’t you get it done? See, it’s all talk no action with these politicians. Why didn’t you get it done? ‘That’s what I’m going to do when I become president.’ You were vice president along with Obama as your president, your leader, for eight years. Why didn’t you get it done?”

Biden, feeling the pressure, said:

“We got a lot of it done.”

He then went on to claim that the number of federal prisoners decreased by 38,000 under Obama’s tenure. Biden said:

“But we began the process. We began the process. We lost an election. That’s why I’m running to win back that election and change his terrible policies.”

Trump, pressing on, asked:

“I just ask one question, why didn’t you do it in the eight years? A short time ago. Why didn’t you do it?”

Biden paused for roughly five seconds and then responded:

“Because we had a Republican Congress. That’s the answer.”

Trump very simply said:

“Well, you gotta talk them into it, Joe. Sometimes, you gotta talk them into it like I did with criminal justice reform.”

Trump was referring to the 2018 bipartisan First Step act, which was designed to reduce federal prison sentences. Interestingly enough, the bill passed while Republicans were still in control of both chambers of Congress.

Biden, who has since ran away from his indisputable “tough on crime” track record, stressed the leniency displayed by the federal government when he was vice president. On several occasions during the debate he noted the 38,000 prisoners who were released from federal prison during the Obama administration.

He even went so far to claim credit for starting the examination of police excessive force in the wake of the 2014 police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. He said:

“We were the ones that put in the legislation saying we could look at pattern and practices of police departments and what they were doing.”

Biden, who in the past has called for the death penalty of various drug-trafficking crimes, is oddly enough also resistant to the legalization of marijuana. During the debate, Biden said that there should be no federal mandatory minimum sentences for drug offenses.

He reiterated that “no one should be going to jail because they have a drug problem”. According to Biden’s campaign, his criminal justice reforms are heavy on dubious policies such as drug courts and mandatory treatment for arrested users. However, they are less brutal than his past stances.

In comparison, Trump has long supported legislation that would turn control over marijuana back to the states. In addition, for Trump’s second term, he is calling for increased penalties for anyone who assaults a police officer. He is also calling for continuing to require people charged with crimes to pay bail or remain locked up until their trial.

10/18/2020- Who picks these people? Third presidential debate moderator is Trump-hating, NBC News hack (op-ed)

This editorial is brought to you by a former police chief and current staff writer for Law Enforcement Today.

NASHVILLE, TN- The Commission on Presidential Debates is turning into a parody of itself.

First Chris Wallace, an obvious Trump hater. The second presidential debate, which was to have been this past week had Steve Scully scheduled as a moderator.

Scully worked as an intern for both Joe Biden and the late Sen. Edward Kennedy. Susan Page moderated the vice-presidential debate.

Her claim to fame? She wrote a glowing biography about Nancy Pelosi, Trump’s public enemy number one. The third and final debate, scheduled for this week has Kristen Welker of NBC News as the moderator.

Welker is the quintessential left-wing hack.

The four moderators that have been scheduled for the three presidential and one vice-presidential debates were all terrible choices, and it raises the question about who exactly is signing off on these debates for President Trump?

So, just who is Welker? The New York Post reports she has been the NBC White House correspondent since 2011. Not only that, she comes from a Democratic family and one that has been donating to the Democratic party for years.

Take her mother Julie. She is a real estate broker in Philadelphia, while her father Harvey is a consulting engineer. Together, they have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democrats, and in fact donated nearly $20,000 to Barack Obama himself.

The family has also donated $3,300 for Biden 2020 and $2,100 for Hillary Clinton’s ill-fated run for president in 2016. They also contributed $7,300 to the Democratic National Committee between 2004 and 2020.

The family was also on the special list for the Obamas, having been invited to celebrate Christmas at the White House in 2012. Sounds like Welker will be a fair and balanced moderator. This would be akin to having Sean Hannity, Dan Bongino or Mark Levin moderate a debate. One sided? Absolutely.

While Welker’s party registration is currently not listed, she registered as a Democrat in Washington, D.C. in 2012, and in Rhode Island in 2004, the Post said.

Welker has earned a reputation as White House correspondent for an abrasive personality, especially with President Trump.

During a 2019 confrontation, she bellowed at the president, “Mr. President, yes or no…have you ever worked for Russia? Yes or no?” she demanded.

That of course was speaking to a Republican. Democrat? Completely different attitude.

In 2016, Welker was caught on live television letting Hillary Clinton’s communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, at least on e question she was going to ask Clinton during a post-debate interview. At that time, Clinton was in a fierce battle against Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination.

“I’m going to ask you about Flint,” Welker said to Palmieri, referring to the water crisis in that Michigan city.

Last week, Welker apparently deleted her Twitter account, which prevented reporters from taking a better look at past statements and views; it was since restored.

However, Town Hall was able to retrieve some of her previous Anti-Trump tweets.

One read, “Trump spoke words Therefore he lied. Good for you getting his lie on record.”

A second: “I can understand Trump commuting his sentence. After all, he’s the one who handed him Wikileaks which helped Trump cheat his way into the Oval Office.”

According to a senior White House official speaking to the Post, “Anyone who’s ever dealt with Welker knows she’s an activist, not a reporter. The White House press team views her the same way they would AOC or Pelosi if they walked in the office.”

The Commission on Presidential Debates is a joke, and its choice of moderators for this year’s election cycle proves it. We recently reported on the commission, and found that there is a lot to question as far as the two co-chairs of the Commission and ties to take down the Trump administration.

For more on that, we invite you to:

DIG DEEPER

For any clear-thinking Americans who have watched the first two debates, the first between President Trump and Joe Biden, the second vice-presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris, something clearly didn’t smell right.

And now we are finding out why. Trump Derangement Syndrome runs deep in the Presidential Debate Commission and it makes one wonder why Team Trump even agreed to the proposed format, and more so the proposed moderators.

The first debate between Trump and Biden, which by all accounts was a cluster…well the word rhymes with truck, also featured the “neutral” moderator Chris Wallace, who is clearly an anti-Trumper acting as a defenseman for Biden.

President Trump was dead-on accurate when he claimed that he was debating two people…Biden and Wallace.

The second debate featured Susan Page, who just authored a glowing biography of whackjob Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who while she didn’t show nearly as much bias as Wallace still went out of her way to prop up Harris. Page refused to probe Harris’ answers to questions Americans need to know, including whether or not she and Biden plan on stacking the Supreme Court.

The clear issue with the debates was not lost on White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who said in a tweet, “The Commission on Presidential Debates is little more than a Commission to Re-elect @JoeBiden!”

According to Revolver News, the chairman of the Presidential Debate Commission is a man named Frank Fahrenkopf, an alleged Republican, more in fact a RINO…Republican in Name Only. Fahrenkopf is also a co-founder and current member of the board of the International Republican Institute, a so-called “Color Revolution” propaganda outfit.

What is a color revolution? Basically they are “externally fueled acts with a clear goal to influence the internal affairs that destabilize the economy, conflict with the law and represent a new form of warfare.” This is they type of strategy used typically by intelligence agencies such as the CIA to destabilize other countries and install a new government.

More directly, a Color Revolution “attacks a foreign regime by contesting its electoral legitimacy, organizing mass protests, and acts of civil disobedience and leveraging media contacts to ensure favorable coverage to their agenda in the Western press.”

Sound familiar? It should…it’s arguably been happening all over America since the end of May.

The IRI was formerly run by long-time Never Trumper John McCain for decades, and it was closely tied to the bogus Steele dossier used as a basis for the Russia collusion hoax that occupied the White House for over three years.

Revolver notes that having Fahrenkopf as a board member on the debate commission, along with his membership on the International Republican Institute would appear to give him and therefore the commission the appearance of balance.

After all, the commission has a co-chair from each of the parties, so it must be balanced, right? That would be incorrect.

As Revolver notes, a debate commission that was comprised of someone such as John McCain (may he rest in peace) and Hillary Clinton would give the appearance of balance and bipartisanship, but when it comes to President Trump you can throw appearance out the window.

Revolver reports that globalist Republicans and globalist Democrats have more in common with each other than they have with Trump. Donald Trump is the ultimate outsider.

Trump and McCain were clearly adversaries, and McCain could have been president of the Never Trumper Club. As mentioned, McCain was chairman of IRI for 25 years. Just months before he died, McCain blasted Trump, taking to Twitter to slam the president for allegedly defunding the organization.

So, who else is tied into this whole sordid mess? The tweet above links to a Washington Post article, that George Soros’ Open Society Foundation was apparently livid that the president would “downscale” a “democracy promotion event” at the State Department.

McCain was likely throwing shade on behalf of Soros, who just happened to be a contributor to the McCain Foundation. Is any of this starting to make sense yet?

So, who else is on the IRI board? Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), retired Army Lt. General H.R. McMaster, who served as President Trump’s National Security Advisor from 2017 to 2018, and Sen. Willard “Mitt” Romney, an avowed anti-Trumper.

While Graham may give the appearance of supporting the president, that support is tepid at best. And we all know about Romney. McMaster left the White House under bad circumstances.

The worst person who sits on the board of the IRI? David Kramer, a former aide to McCain who was responsible for actually leaking the Steele dossier, who also testified in a libel case that he was responsible for spreading unsubstantiated anti-Trump material throughout the capitol during the transition from Obama to Trump.

Kramer served previously as the head of a group called “Freedom House,” which was founded to fight what he calls four “isms”—fascism, Nazism, communism, and isolationism.

The latter is of course what adversaries call President Trump and many of his supporters who put America first and reject endless foreign wars and democracy making of McCain and George W. Bush.

As Revolver notes, putting isolationism in the same context as Nazism and communism is somewhat interesting.

From there we get into a man named Scott Carpenter, who was a board member of IRI. Carpenter’s background is even more disturbing due to his affiliation with Google.

Carpenter is “director of free expression” at Google Ideas, which was tasked with developing artificial intelligence technology, which is designed to censor so-called “toxic hate speech” online.

The successor to Google Ideas is Google Jigsaw, which is in essence an artificial intelligence project which censors so-called “hate speech” online.

Hate speech typically ends up being defined as anything Trump supporters or conservatives feel strongly about, such as crime, fighting open borders, and ending endless American wars. Jigsaw is run by another swamp rate, Jared Cohen, who worked in the Clinton State Department.

Carpenter is an avowed anti-Trumper, as evidenced by the below tweet:

Hayden was the former head of the CIA and NSA, and is an avowed anti-Trump zealot.

So where is Carpenter now? He was recently appointed to the board of the parent of IRI, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

The NED funds the IRI and is one of the leading non-governmental organizations which is involved with US Government objectives overseas, including supporting Color Revolution in various areas. NED is intended to be an “improved” CIA.

While NED is intended to provide a focus on “democracy promotion”, i.e. Color Revolutions overseas, it was also involved in the George Floyd situation.

They said, in part:

“The brutal killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis has provoked an outpouring of anger and rage that the United States has not seen since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. more than fifty years ago. Our democracy is being tested as never before in the memory of most living Americans We will not overcome this crisis and begin to heal our divided nation unless the four police officers responsible for the killing of George Floyd are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and unless America commits itself fully to the principles of racial justice and equality for all citizens.”

Daniel Twining, the current president of the IRI weighed in on the Floyd death:

Twining previously was at the German Marshall Fund, which is funded again by Soros, and whose vice president recently spoke out against President Trump. Oh, and Twining was also a legislative aid for none other than Sen. John McCain.

So, where does all this lead and what does it have to do with the debates? The co-chair of the Debate Commission, Fahrenkopf is a sitting board member on the IRI, which is affiliated with a number of Trump’s bitter rivals, and whose board members pushed the bogus dossier and who openly support Joe Biden on Twitter.

In addition, as Revolver notes, the official position of IRI regarding the Floyd death supports that narratives that are driving both Black Lives Matter as well as Antifa, in what amounts to a Color Revolution against the Trump administration.

Revolver then explains why many of those who are involved with attempting to take Trump out have Eastern European ties.

Many of those who have done so have vast experience in Color Revolutions in that part of the world from their former deployment in the diplomatic corps.

Names such as Lt. Colonel Vindman, Fiona Hill and Marie Voyanovitch, all “star” impeachment witnesses gained their chops in Eastern Europe Color Revolution operations.

So, Fahrenkopf, the “Republican” is knee deep in rather nefarious connections. What about the other co-chair of the Commission on Presidential Debates, Democrat Kenneth Wollack?

Well, he also has ties to an NGO, in this case the National Democratic Institute. The purpose of the NDI is to assist “democracy” efforts in foreign countries, or in English to act in the capacity of a propaganda arm to propagate Color Revolution efforts on behalf of the United States government.

As mentioned, the IRI is mostly Republican staffed, while the NDI has mostly Democrats. In fact, the two groups are “sister organizations” in that they are two of four grantees of the National Endowment for Democracy, an umbrella group which aids Color Revolutions. Moreover, Fahrenkopf co-founded the National Endowment for Democracy, and served as board member and vice chair from 1983-1993.

This entire Presidential Debate Commission is rife with deep-state ties and connections. The two co-chairs both have ties to Color Revolution NGO’s (IRI, NDI, NED).

Further, Fahrenkopf co-founded the Commission on Presidential Debates with a man named Paul Kirk, who had also previously served as President of NDI.

When all the facts and circumstances are taken together, with all the ties that the co-chairs of the PDC have with Color Revolution NGO’s along with the current coup being run against President Trump utilizing the Color Revolution model, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to make the connection.

As Revolver says:

“The same people the same networks, and the same institutions tasked with Color Revolutions abroad are the key players in deploying the same strategies here at home against our democratically elected President, Donald J. Trump.”

You want to know why anti-Trump hacks have been chosen to moderate these debates, moderators who have a clear bias and are clearly anti-Trump zealots? Look no further than the co-chairs of the Commission on Presidential Debates. It is all part of the coup attempt.

The only question is, why did President Trump’s advisers sign off on the formats of these debates along with the moderators? He was set up to fail.
