Trump fires Esper, appoints Chris Miller as Acting Secretary of Defense. It should have happened a long time ago.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today President Trump confirmed what the DC rumor mill had been passing around for a week or two – he fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper.  In his place, he appointed Chris Miller as Acting Secretary.  This comes after reports surfaced that the political appointee was covertly assisting Joe Biden’s transition team.

Trouble began brewing for the Trump/Esper relationship back in June when Esper differed vocally from the president on Trump’s directed actions for federal police and Trump’s own actions revolving around Lafayette Park.

Federal police moved in on protestors there and moved them out of the area – reports indicated that tear gas or CS spray was used but police management denied that allegation.

The president later appeared in front of St John’s Episcopal Church holding a bible in an event that garnered criticism from the left.  Many in the mainstream media declared the bible photo a “photo op” and that U.S Capitol Police were used to clear out demonstrators for the opportunity.

In June, Esper voiced the concern that he would have handled things differently, and then in one 24-hour period, disagreed with the president about whether to keep or return active duty and National Guard troops who had been deployed into Washington, D.C.

Esper was quoted during that White House standoff, referring to the president’s authority to deploy troops:

“The option to use active-duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort and only in the most urgent and dire situations. We are not in one of those situations right now.  I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act.”

It is likely that war or words and ever-changing positions that set the rumor mill into motion.  It is likely also the reason President Trump selected Chris Miller.

Christopher Miller, until today, was the director of the National Counterterrorism Center.

President Trump’s brief announcement:

“I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately…..Chris will do a GREAT job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.”

Chris Miller is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer, a “Green Beret” and has worked around the Pentagon and the White House since 2016.

In addition to being the Director for the National Counterterrorism Center, he was previously the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict.

Miller has been a direct aide to the president since 2018.  In his assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict, he was responsible for “overseeing the employment of special operations forces in counterterrorism, Military Information Support Operations (MISO), Information Operations, unconventional warfare, irregular warfare, direct action, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defense, counter proliferation, sensitive special operations, and personnel recovery/hostage issues as specified by the Secretary of Defense.”

Miller served in the Army on active duty from 1983 – 2014, and commanded several special operations units, including the one that tracked down Osama Bin Laden.  He was originally an enlisted military policeman and gained his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) program in 1987.

“Throughout his career, he served within other special operations organizations, culminating with command of the 2nd Battalion, 5th SFG(A). Mr. Miller participated in the initial combat operations in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, in addition to numerous follow-on deployments to both theaters, and has extensive inter-agency and joint special operations experience.”

In a Senate questionnaire before his confirmation to the National Counterterrorism Center position, Miller wrote:

“I have spent my entire adult life working national security issues at all levels of the United States Government. During the course of my career as an infantry officer and special forces operator, I received specialized training in, and became a recognized subject matter expert on, the collection, use, and oversight of intelligence at the tactical, operational and strategical level for counterterrorism operations.”

Though we cannot know the actual reasons the president chose Miller over Esper, and even though Miller and Esper were both Army officers, their paths were different.  Miller was a hard-charging Special Forces commander, and although Esper was an Army Airborne officer, he took the perceived “softer” route of working for Raytheon and being a defense department lobbyist prior to the secretary position.

The fact that Esper refused to support the deployment of military troops and align with the president, while Miller would probably be more aggressive in dealing with riots and actual insurrection…are ideas that are now being chewed in military barracks, offices, smoke pits, and group meetings everywhere today.

My military friends (and I) think that Miller is much less politically correct, like our president, and wouldn’t hesitate to support Trump in stopping those guaranteed riots should Trump trudge through the election process as a victor.

Here’s a very recent protest that turned into a riot, just like what Trump may be preparing for by appointing Miller:

Watch: Black Lives Matter shouts ‘Burn it Down’ during march in Washington D.C.

November 8, 2020

WASHINGTON D.C.- Many on the left believed that the rioting and unrest taking place across the country was the fault of President Trump, because you know, he is a “racist”.

They also believed that if President-Elect, Joe Biden were to become the President, everything would cease and go back to normal.

To be blunt, anyone who honestly thought that was just being naïve.

Anyone who actually wanted to come to terms with reality could see that the riots have absolutely nothing to do with who holds the office of President of the United States, but rather, it is just an excuse to loot, assault, destroy, and destruct, all without any repercussions.

Take this man for example, who brought a hand truck with him to the riot in Philadelphia. I am pretty sure someone who brings a hand truck with them, has premeditated intentions on stealing large items.

So tell me again, what on earth that has to do with who the President is.

Further proof that Joe Biden winning the election was irrelevant, late Saturday night, November 7th, a group of rioters, posing as peaceful protesters, broke away from the pack, and began marching towards the Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington D.C., shouting “Burn it down.”

Congruent with most other riots taking place across the country, the individuals were dressed in all black, and were armed with umbrellas, to provide protection from video surveillance and police officers’ dispersal tactics.

Journalist Henry Rodgers took to Twitter to report the situation. He tweeted:

“Separate group has broken off screaming ‘burn it down’… Dressed in all black. Marching downtown DC. A lot of umbrellas as usual with no rain in forecast:”

The group began with the common chant of “What do we want? Justice” “When do we want it? Now”, which was followed by “And if we don’t get it? Burn it down!”

Breitbart reported that another journalist, Madison Muller, tweeted a video of BLM protesters chanting, “All cops are bastards” as they approached Black Lives Matter Plaza.

The new maneuver among these extremists groups seems to be to act like a peaceful protester, and then break away from the pack to begin the usual rioting destruction.
