The coming collapse of America. Is it too late to save the country we love?

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: I proudly served two communities as a police officer for nearly 32 years. One was in a suburban area, a town of around 45,000, the other in a rural small town of around 2,000 where I served as police chief.

As I have viewed the landscape over the past eight months as an outsider, but as someone who is an unabashed supporter of law enforcement and someone who loves my country, I have become increasingly concerned. Very much so. 

Time was police officers were somewhat revered. Heck, only nine months ago police, along with other emergency responders and front-line workers were being placed on a pedestal as the country dealt with the onset of COVID-19.

That of all came crashing down to earth in late May with the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

The year 2020 has been one for the ages. As a 62-year-old, I have seen our country go through a lot. As a young child, I saw the assassination of President Kennedy, and a few years later his brother Sen. Robert Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.

I remember watching the news after Dr. King’s death, seeing the riots in our cities large and small. I recall driving by our state capital on the way to my uncle’s home, seeing buildings in flames. It’s a sight I’ll never forget.

I saw protests against the Vietnam War in our streets and on college campuses. I heard something about a shooting at Kent State University, but I didn’t understand what that was all about. I watched on the news about a massacre in the country of Vietnam where American soldiers had killed a bunch of villagers in a town called Mi Lai.

Later on, as a young police officer and young adult, Iraqi madman Saddam Hussein invaded the small country of Kuwait, and we as a nation waited what seemed an eternity for what we knew was to come. I was watching CNN (when it was a legitimate news network) when Bernard Shaw was on-air and suddenly appeared behind him explosions and air to ground missiles, marking the beginning of Operation Desert Storm.

For the first time in a long time, I was actually a bit nervous, not knowing what this would all lead to. After all, despite the fact that President George H.W. Bush had built a tremendous coalition of nations going after Hussein, there was always the x-factor of possible intervention by Russia. After a few short weeks, it was clear that Hussein was going down in defeat. And we all came together as Americans.

September 11, 2001 led to a whole other bunch of doubts and concerns, as for the first time in my life, America was attacked on our own shores. Yet despite that, I also witnessed the best of America after that attack. As a police officer, as I drove around my hometown, nearly every house on every street was flying an American flag. Cars and trucks had flags flying off their windows or in the bed of their trucks. Patriotism was back in a big way.

There was also the way first responders, including police officers were treated. Going into the local coffee shop usually resulted in someone saying, “Thank you officer” and paying for my coffee. For maybe a week or two after 9/11, there was nary a criminal complaint.

It was actually somewhat surreal.

So, what is the point of all the above? Well it is basically to give some perspective.

With everything I had been through in my life both as a police officer and in the six years since I left the career I loved, what I have witnessed over the past six months just feels different. And I do not like it.

There is a quote that has been attributed to President Ronald Reagan. However, today…in November 2020 it seems more relevant than ever before. That quote?

“If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth.”

Reagan was of course speaking about America.

Yet another quote from Reagan says:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We did not pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

So, what does all of this have to do with anything? Freedom is under attack. As representatives of the state who help guarantee that freedom and defend our country against crime and anarchy, police are on the front lines of that attack against our freedom.

Look at what has happened since May. Police officers are demonized, excoriated, and represented as evil oppressors, while those who are on the streets committing anarchy are in some circles lionized as “freedom fighters.”

Police are the bad guys. Men and women, who swore an oath but who are still human, with all of those frailties and shortcomings are expected to be super-human.

Those police officers are all sons and daughters, some husbands or wives, others parents of children young and old. Even some are grandparents.

Yet, to some people, they are evil demons who go to work each day looking to hunt down people of color, to deprive someone of their God-given or constitutional rights, or power-hungry thugs looking to exercise the incredible powers they possess to deprive someone of their liberty.

So, what happens when reality gets flipped on its head, when good is bad and bad is good? Well, we have seen that in cities from Portland to New York, where anarchy is welcomed by the political class while police officers are viewed as “storm troopers, Nazi’s, Gestapo, and occupiers.”

And those are some of the less drastic descriptions, and all of those have been uttered not by criminals but primarily by Democratic politicians.

What else have we seen? We’ve seen politicians, drunk with newly found power running their cities and states as dictatorships. They have used the human instinct of being safe and secure to turn neighbor against neighbor in the midst of a pandemic where the survival rate is over 99% for an overwhelming majority of people.

What is even more disturbing is the fact that a lot of people, I would estimate a minimum of 50% have absolutely no problem with their freedoms being restricted. That doesn’t speak well for the future of our Republic. Just like sheep being led to slaughter, they do whatever their “leaders” tell them to do. 

Then we come to the election. Once again, 50% of the American people do not have a problem with the fact that whether or not it is enough to turn the election results, there is ample evidence of fraud. For every illegal vote, a legal voter was disenfranchised.

More disturbing is the fact that many of the issues being identified were put in place in violation of the Constitution ahead of time. This was in fact intentional. The bottom line is there are over 73 million people who believe the election results are tainted.

While the Democrat nominee talks about “bringing the country together,” that will be impossible for two reasons. First is the reason identified above. An overwhelming number of Americans feel the election results are fraudulent.

The second reason is there are many on the Democrat side who somehow feel engaging in “payback” against those who supported the president is a legitimate act. That is even a scarier proposition for the future of the country. That is not how a Republic functions.

If you look at the great empires of the world, nearly all collapsed not from foreign enemies but from within. There was another quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln, which some have said was fabricated, however the spirit of the quote means the same.

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we lose our freedoms it will be because we have destroyed ourselves from within.”

While USA Today claims in a “fact-check” that Lincoln allegedly never said that, there is a quote attributed to him which basically says the same.

In an 1838 speech in Springfield, Illinois, Lincoln is quoted as saying:

“At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

The collapse of an empire, or in this case the greatest nation in the history of our world doesn’t typically happen due to a single cause, but rather involves a series of events over a period of time. In history, the main factors which have led to collapse of empires were:

  • Economic issues
  • Social and cultural issues
  • Environmental issues
  • Political issues

While the above by themselves wouldn’t necessarily collapse an empire or a nation, however taken collectively they serve as warning signs.

LET Unity

For example, under social and cultural issues, there is a significant cultural divide. If you look at what had been previously deemed socially “acceptable” is now a mandate. Look at an issue such as gay marriage.

Where up until five or six years ago such was considered to be an abomination, it has now been mainstreamed. Yet, there are still a large number of people for either religious or cultural reasons who oppose it. And those people are excoriated, criticized, doxed and some have even lost their careers or businesses because of it.

Under environmental, the issue of so-called “climate change” has become almost a religion unto itself. Despite ample evidence showing that climate change may not be the terminal nightmare many believe, those who take the position of opposing the narrative have been called “climate deniers,” with some even suggesting those who deny the existence of climate change be put in jail.

Political? How about people on the left who are suggesting that supporters of President Trump be put in “reeducation camps” or in the case of some of the far-left loons, being put in prison? When you are so far out on the extremes of an issue, is there truly any room for compromise? I would suggest there is not. Then there is also the issue of the 2020 election as mentioned above.

Law Enforcement Today has mentioned the Cloward-Piven strategy before. For those unfamiliar, in a nutshell that strategy suggests overloading the welfare system in the country in order to create a crisis which would lead to the replacement of the current welfare system with a socialist system of “a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty.”

However, that strategy also seems to have been applied to the election system. Democrats were able to come up with a perfect reason to try to overwhelm the system—COVID 19.

Suggesting that it would be “dangerous” to vote in person, Democrats devised a scheme to have mass mail-in voting. Anyone who looked at what was being done knew it would be a recipe for disaster. And it sure has been. It will be interesting to see if voting in person caused so-called “super spreader” events. 

Look at the number of lawsuits filed PRIOR to the election throughout the country—estimates put it in the hundreds. And virtually every one of those lawsuits was designed to create chaos.

Why else would we be here nearly a month after the election and some election results in New York and California are still not settled? That doesn’t even include all the apparent hijinks in swing states where every election “glitch” appeared to benefit the Democrat presidential candidate. This is a classic case of Cloward-Piven on steroids.

President Thomas Jefferson famously said:

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s natural manure.”

Look at what Biden is proposing. Tens of millions of illegal aliens getting amnesty. And with that the opportunity to vote in our elections. Rewarded for violating our sovereignty and crossing our borders illegally. While Biden denies he is advocating open borders, Black Lives Matter, which is trying to strong-arm Biden does. Many far-left loons such as “the Squad” also want open borders.

Let’s get back to the demonization of law enforcement. Indeed, in some cases the virtual criminalization of it. In some places, Los Angeles comes to mind, a newly elected district attorney is going to look back on years’ old use of deadly force cases for possible prosecution of the POLICE OFFICERS!!

Meanwhile, cities such as Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis and New York City have seen scores of officers either retire or quit outright in the face of defunding of police and the outright disrespect for the profession being shown by the political class, as well as by citizens. Some cities are having difficulty attracting qualified applicants because frankly, who the hell wants to put their lives at risk for people who don’t give a crap?

Then there are police chiefs, most in big cities. They are political hacks, who bend at the whim of their political masters. One such chief is Art Acevedo in Houston, Texas, who has destroyed the morale of that department. There are many others. They would be better served by someone such as Detroit Police Chief James Craig, who constantly and steadfastly has the back of his officers.

I have borrowed some of what he wrote in order to complete this column, however most of this involves my own thoughts on the coming collapse of our country if we do not do something and do it now.

Following are some areas Kyle addressed which I agree with 100% regarding how the collapse of our country would look like; I have added some of my own:

Step one: Divide the protectors

We have seen this already, across the country where mayors such as de Blasio in New York City, Lightfoot in Chicago and others have made their cities so-called “sanctuary cities,” where local officers are forbidden from cooperating with federal law enforcement agencies, such as ICE.

Divide the protectors…conquer a society.

Step two: Divide the supporters

Police have been put in the untenable position of being the enforcement arm of tyrannical governors’ orders regarding COVID-19, many of which are unconstitutional. Other laws, such as so-called “red flag laws” also put officers in the position of having to enforce unconstitutional edicts.

What to these mandates do? Well it puts officers in the position of being the bad guys. The very people who have referred to cops as “stormtroopers” then put officers in the position of being “COVID cops,” enforcing mask mandates, social distancing restrictions and so forth. Who comes out looking like the bad guys? The cops. People who typically have supported the police now see them as the enemy. Divide the supporters…conquer a society.

Step three: Remove their protection

Make the police afraid or hesitant to do their jobs. Remove qualified immunity, one of the only things which give police protection in the event of having a split-second use of deadly force decision, while others have the benefit of days or weeks of analysis to reach a conclusion. Do as Virginia did and make assaulting a cop a misdemeanor. Or as in New York, making it so that criminals are back on the streets before the ink on the police report outlining their arrest is dry.

Do as some district attorneys have done and solicit complaints against police officers, so they are afraid to do their jobs for fear of being second-guessed at best and terminated or arrested at worst. Remove the desire and ability to police their communities. Remove the protection of police officers…conquer a society.

Step four: Flood America

We already addressed Biden’s plan, should he be sworn in, to allow over ten million illegal aliens to gain amnesty, thereby giving them the ability to vote. Worse than that, open the borders to let all manner of criminals to enter the country unabated. With 850,000 police officers in the country, the system will become overwhelmed. Overwhelm the protectors…conquer a society.

Step five: Destroy our homes and family.

We have already seen the media, social media, Hollywood, music and sports all dictate what is right and wrong. Schools have started teaching the 1619 Project, which teaches that America was founded on racist principles.

Social media companies have censored conservative, pro-America thought, removing debate from their platforms, throttling pro-police pages, limiting all debate on the veracity of the 2020 election.

Glamorize four-year old children “coming out” as the gender opposite of the one they were born as, removing God and religion from the equation, including banning church services in the interests of “public safety” during the pandemic, while allowing liquor stores, strip bars and marijuana dispensaries to remain open.

This is another area where Black Lives Matter is making demands, to destroy the “nuclear family.” Destroy our homes and family…conquer a society.

Step six: Bypass Congress for gun control

Allow private businesses such as Dicks’ Sporting Goods and Walmart determine the availability of firearms; allow credit card companies to prohibit the use of their cards to purchase weapons or ammunition, and allow banks to discriminate against gun retailers or manufacturers in their credit decisions. Bypass Congress for gun control…conquer a society.

Step seven: Permit Social Media to determine what type of speech is and isn’t allowed

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google and others have decided what people need to know about COVID-19 and the election, as well as groups such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter, and opinions that go against the desired narrative are either flagged or deleted, including those of the President of the United States. 

Meanwhile said companies enjoy protection under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act which defines them as a “provider” rather than a publisher. Restrict free speech…conquer a society.

Step eight: Use “social justice” to vilify love of country

Most patriotic Americans want to see a better country for our children and grandchildren, yet we have been called racists, homophobes, xenophobes and worse because they don’t agree with us. Time was when people could have opposing positions and those positions would be respected. Not any longer. People are reported on social media and have their accounts frozen or shutdown.

The most arcane of comments are bent and twisted then submitted to a liberal judge who makes a determination that a combat veteran needs to be disarmed because of post-traumatic stress disorder. When police officers are sent to confiscate the warrior’s weapons, they are put in the position of going to war with their own brothers and sisters. Vilify love of country…conquer a society.

The collapse

Wake up America! This is happening right now, and it is happening right in front of our eyes. It is clear…it is obvious…and it is intentional. They aren’t even hiding it. Chuck Schumer a week or two back, talking about the Georgia senate races said something to the effect of, “…if we win Georgia, we change America.”

Do you want to save America or send it to the ash heap of history? Our friends in Israel issued a cautionary tale. In a piece in Israel Nation News, Rabbi Avraham HaCohen Kook noted that the troubles which befell the Jewish people came not from external enemies but rather from the influence of internal groups.

He noted that while the “internal opponents may be numerically smaller than our external foes, …they have far greater capacity to inflict damage and distance the Jewish people from their Father in heaven.”

 That is what we are seeing in our country today. It is the internal enemies…the enemy within which poses the greatest threat to our great Republic and our way of life.

If we don’t wake up soon, it will be too late.
