Texas governor blasts Biden administration, claims migrant children inside San Antonio facility being sexually abused

SAN ANTONIO, TX- As the Biden Border Chaos spirals further into turmoil, information has come forth that the San Antonio facility housing illegal migrant children from south of the border has been the scene of a number of sexual assaults against children.

Now, Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott is calling for the facility to be closed and for the Texas Rangers to initiate an investigation into the allegations.

The International Business Times reported that in addition to the state investigation, Abbott is also asking for a federal investigation into the allegations.

During a Wednesday press conference, Abbott declared that he had ordered a state investigation and called for the federal investigation after several tips were received which alleged sexual assaults had occurred inside the federal facility, as well as allegations of possible COVID-19 exposure inside the Freeman Expo Center.

Currently, that facility is holding some 1,370 migrant children. During his press conference, Abbott slammed Joe Biden in particular and the Biden administration, claiming that he should bear the brunt of the blame for child abuse and neglect at the shelter, which is bursting at the seams.

Abbott noted there were multiple claims of sexual assault, as well as concerns about the coronavirus being spread inside the facility, but on an immediate basis, needs to shut down the facility.

“This facility is a health and safety nightmare. The Biden administration is now presiding over the abuse of children. To end this abuse, the Biden administration must immediately shut down this facility,” Abbott said.

He noted that at least two Texas state agencies had received tips about migrant children being sexually abused, as well as exposed to COVID-19 inside the facility.

Aside from those concerns, Abbott also noted there were reports the facility was severely understaffed and that some children were not eating. He also complained that children with COVID-19 were not being segregated from other children.

“While we wait on the Biden administration to act, I’m directing DPS [Department of Public Safety] and Texas Rangers to immediately begin an investigation into these allegations,” the governor said.

Abbott’s announcement came as Texas, as well as other border states are locked in a battle of wills with the Biden administration, which has in essence opened the borders and leaving the states to deal with the aftermath.

The Washington Examiner reported Abbott didn’t end his criticism there.

“The Biden administration opened the borders and failed to plan for the influx of unaccompanied children crossing the border, and now we’re faced with our worst fears–allegations of child abuse and neglect. I am calling on the Biden administration to close this facility.”

Abbott did not have an exact number of children who had been abused, however he said the allegations appeared to be “credible.”

The number of children at the facility has surged over just the past few weeks, increasing from 500 to the current number of 1,370.

Despite that and complaints from the border states, Biden has refused to call the situation a crisis, and punted the problem to Kamala Harris, who has also been missing in action in the over two weeks since she was put “in charge” of the situation.

Also on Wednesday, the White House had said the administration was seeking more facilities in which to house the onslaught of children crossing the border. On Tuesday alone, nearly 750 unaccompanied illegal migrant minors were detained.

The Expo Center supposedly has the capacity inside to house 2,100 bets, and officials are attempting to make that number available. However due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, that is not currently possible.

Biden has been eviscerated by the right for overturning the Trump-era immigration policies, which had helped stem the tide of illegals and migrant children trying to cross the border. Biden’s actions have opened the floodgates at the border, and as of yet, no measures have been put in place to stem the tide.

This week, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas suggested the administration might complete open sections of the border wall started under Trump, part of which has already secured funding.

Biden had vowed during the runup to the election that “not one foot” of border wall would be built under his “watch.” The statement by DHS seems to suggest Biden might be rethinking that “strategy.”

Law Enforcement Today has reported numerous times on the reckless Biden administration policies that are causing a human rights crisis at the border. We recently reported on one migrant child who drowned in the Rio Grande while trying to cross into the U.S. from Mexico. For more on that, we invite you to:

EAGLE PASS, TX – Attempting to cross the Rio Grande with her mother and three-year-old sibling, a nine-year-old migrant girl from Guatemala reportedly drowned this week.

The mother and smaller child were reportedly resuscitated by Border Patrol agents who responded.

On March 20th, agents from the Del Rio Sector Marine Unit discovered a small island in the middle of the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass, Texas.

According to details provided by Del Rio Sector Border Patrol officials, the agents discovered three people unconscious on the island where they had become stranded while attempting to cross from Mexico into Texas.

The agents started administering life-saving measures to all three migrants right away. After receiving assistance, the mother, a Guatemalan national, and her three-year-old child were said to have regained consciousness.

Agents continued to render aid to the nine-year-old girl before turning the child over to an Eagle Pass Fire Department EMS crew, who were unable to resuscitate her as well. Unfortunately, the young girl was eventually declared deceased by medical professionals, according to officials.

Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II delivered the following statement regarding the young girl’s passing:

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of this small child. During these hard times our agents remain resilient, and I am extremely proud of their efforts to preserve human life.”

According to a tweet shared by Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Skero on March 25th, his sector has seen an abnormal increase in encounters along the border:

“Over 2,240 illegal aliens have been encountered in Del Rio Sector over the past three days alone. These arrests contribute to the nearly 300% increase in apprehensions over last year. This increase is far higher than the normal seasonal fluctuations we traditionally see.”

Meanwhile, Border Patrol agents working the Rio Grande Valley Sector recently apprehended five large groups of migrant families, unaccompanied minors, and single adults recently. A Salvadoran man with a murder conviction was among the 539 migrants apprehended.

Chief Patrol Agent Brian Hastings tweeted that agents patrolling a small section of the Rio Grande Valley Sector encountered five large groups of migrants earlier in March. Reportedly, 539 migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico into South Texas were among the five groups.

Agents were said to have discovered 93 unaccompanied migrant children when processing the migrants, according to Hastings’ tweet. In Fiscal Year 2021, he claims his agents had detained more than 18,000 migrant children.

Hastings also tweeted that Rio Grande Valley Sector agents discovered more than 860 criminal immigrants this year. There were reportedly 92 sex offenders and 63 violent gang members among them.

According to the new Southwest Border Land Encounters study released by Customs and Border Protection earlier in March, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents apprehended 27,913 migrants in February, including more than 10,000 family units and nearly 4,000 unaccompanied minors.

Due to the huge winter storm that hit the border area and the rest of Texas, these figures may have been slightly impacted.

On March 19th, Chief Hastings announced that his agents had apprehended more than 34,000 migrants in March. This far outnumbers any previous March total in CBP records dating back to 2010. Thousands of migrants have been apprehended every day since then.

In other immigration-related news, President Joe Biden has decided to task Vide President Kamala Harris with addressing the situation at the border.

Here’s that previous report on the matter.

WASHINGTON, DC — President Joe Biden has now delegated his leadership role in the growing illegal immigration crisis at the Texas border to Vice President Kamala Harris, who is increasingly being tasked with more presidential-like duties.

This past week, Biden appointed Harris to lead his administration’s efforts to address a record surge in migrants, including unaccompanied minors, which have strained capacity at immigration facilities at the southern border in recent weeks.

Biden said in his White House announcement:

“I can think of nobody who is better qualified to do this.”

Referring to Harris, Biden said:

“When she speaks, she speaks for me. Doesn’t have to check with me. She knows what she’s doing and I hope we can move this along.”

Harris will serve as the administration’s diplomatic liaison in talks with Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador and try to address the root causes of the migrant surge.

Harris said to Biden:

“Thank you, Mr. President, and for having the confidence in me. There’s no question this is a challenging situation.”

However, Harris is being criticized by some as a poor choice to lead the border crisis response.

She has been accused of flip-flopping on the issue of decriminalizing illegal crossings and comparing ICE to the KKK, according to FOX News reports.

On “Fox & Friends” , former Acting ICE Director, Tom Homan, slammed Vice President Kamala Harris as the “worst pick” to lead the response to the current border crisis under the Biden administration.

Homan said:

“When President Biden says [Kamala Harris] is the most qualified, I mean, seriously? What color’s the sky in his world? Because you couldn’t get a worse pick. Look, she supports sanctuary cities, she wrote legislation to reward those who illegally entered into the United States.”

Homan further added:

“She vilified the men and women of the Border Patrol during the last surge, saying they are mistreating immigrants. She’s an open borders advocate. She wants to abolish ICE and she compared immigration officers to the KKK during the Senate hearing, and you want to put her in charge of immigration enforcement on the border?

“I couldn’t think of a worse choice.”

Harris was among the Democrats who raised their hands during a June 2019 presidential primary debate when asked if they were in favor of decriminalization of illegal border crossings. When Megan McCain asked her about it on “The View,” Harris denied it, although she still said the law should not be criminally enforced:

“I would not make it a crime punishable by jail. It should be a civil enforcement issue, but not a criminal enforcement issue.”

In 2018, Harris came under fire for grilling Ronald Vitiello, President Trump’s nominee to lead Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

During a hearing on Capitol Hill,  Harris specifically compared ICE to the Ku Klux Klan and tried to get Vitiello to agree with her by asking the following:

“Are you aware of the perception of many about how the power and the discretion at ICE is being used to enforce the laws and do you see any parallels?”

Harris continued asking Vitiello:

“Are you aware that there is a perception that ICE is administering its power in a way that is causing fear and intimidation, particularly among immigrants and specifically among immigrants coming from Mexico and Central America? Are you aware of that perception?”

Then before getting cut off again by Harris, Vitiello replied:

“I do not see a parallel between the power and authority that ICE has to do its job and agents and officers who do it professionally and excellently with lots of compassion.”

At his first solo press conference on March 25, Biden admitted he did not know when the press would be able to access federal immigration facilities at the southern border.

Journalists in recent weeks have been barred from immigration facilities amid the ongoing border crisis, with one longtime Getty photographer claiming he had to photograph U.S. border operations from Mexico rather than from the U.S.

Asked when reporters might be allowed into overcrowded migrant facilities at the southern border, Biden said during the press conference “very shortly,” but did not provide a specific timeline.

Pressed on the issue, Biden said he would “commit to transparency” on the issue and that media would have “full access” to the facilities in the near future.

When asked again about when the press would gain access to immigration facilities, including those where children are reportedly being packed together in large numbers, the president responded: “I don’t know.”

Biden’s frequent inability to give details on important topics contrasts with the image of Harris silently lurking behind him when he speaks or signs proclamations.

Some observers have become unnerved and theorize she is being prepared to take over the presidency if needed in the future.

For example, Kamala has already been tasked with the president’s traditional job of making phone calls to major foreign leaders. She recently spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Biden himself indicated he thought of himself as a “transition candidate.” He further explained after his election that, should he and Kamala ever have a difference of agreement, he would leave office and hand it over to her.

On more than one occasion, Biden has referred to Vice President Harris as President Harris, fueling further speculation as to what her future role may actually be.

The 25th Amendment states:

“In case of the removal of the President from office, or his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.”

Between Biden’s verbal gaffesfalling three times on the steps of Air Force One and his first press conference, more eyes may turn to Harris as she takes on more duties.
