SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida teacher was arrested Friday after she was accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student.

Jaclyn Truman, 30, (pictured) reportedly had a two-month relationship with a 15-year-old female student last year while she was serving as a long-term substitute teacher at Hagerty High School in Seminole County, Fla., the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The student told deputies from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office she and Truman had sex “multiple times” at the high school from March to May 2016, WFTV reported.

A report was filed on Oct. 4. As a result, Truman was placed on leave from Lake Howell High, where she was then teaching, after Child Protective Services called the school, WFTV reported.

At the time of the report, Truman was a sign language teacher at Lake Howell High School, Seminole County Public Schools spokesman Michael Lawrence said. However, last year she was a substitute teacher at Hagerty High School.

The teacher resigned from her position at the school Thursday and turned herself in to police the same day, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Moreover, officials said Truman was cooperating with the investigation.

“During that time frame the teacher had already turned in (her) resignation to the district, which actually was effective and final yesterday,” Lawrence said. “Therefore, this individual is no longer an employee of SCPS.”

Lawrence said a background check was done before Truman was hired full-time and the check came back clean.

The Florida educator was arrested on “two counts of lewd acts on a minor student” and was booked in the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. Her bail was set at $40,000, the sheriff’s office said.

Bob Kealing, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, confirmed that Truman taught at a few schools in the Seminole County school district. Therefore, deputies said they’re looking into the possibility that she has other victims.

No other details were given.
