HILLBURN, N.Y. – A multi-agency police pursuit ends with a suspect in custody and no one is injured.
The year 2016 has past and 2017 is present! We welcome the New Year with not just some fireworks that shine loud and bright in the skies overhead, but also with the sound and colors of cruisers making their voice heard in a small town in Rockland County, N.Y.
Yesterday, the Suffern Police Department responded to a call that included the New York State Police, Ramapo Police and other New Jersey police departments. It all started in East Rutherford, New Jersey as their police department was notified of a stolen flatbed truck out of Hackensack, and attempted to stop it.
The vehicle then proceeded onto Route17N and was followed by police units that were dispatched. The pursuit continued on the NYS Thruway and eventually the vehicle was stopped on Route 59 in Hillburn, New York, near the Suffern border. The suspect was taken into custody and fortunately there were no injuries.
Just to sum it up, good guy-1 bad guy-0. The SPD K-9 Unit as well as other officers were assigned to this area to assist. A job well done by all departments involved.
Let us remember to keep all our LEO’s in our prayers as their commitment to safety in all of our communities sometimes goes unnoticed, but on this day, very noticed!
