School drops ‘God Bless America’ after complaint. And it begins…

The Politically Correct Police just put another notch in their belt.

The principal at a Pennsylvania elementary school principal will no longer say “God Bless America” after a legal complaint at the school.

Peter Brigg is the principal of Sabold Elementary School in Springfield.  A parent filed a complaint against him, saying he has been breaking the law.

Brigg would say the phrase after reciting the pledge over the loudspeaker.

That parent complained to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and an attorney from the group then sent a letter to the district complaining that publicly announcing the expression violated the U.S. Constitution’s prohibition of government sponsoring religious messages.

“‘God Bless America’ is a prayer … A Prayer hosted by a publicly supported school does not pass constitutional muster,” the foundation said.

The district immediately caved.  They released a statement Friday confirming that it received a complaint that reciting the words “God Bless America” over the loudspeaker “violated the law”.  The district said it would stop the practice immediately.

“In accordance with District protocol, this complaint was forwarded to our District Solicitor’s Office. Based upon the Solicitor’s legal research and recommendation, we ceased this practice. Continuation of any practices that may be unlawful would only expose the District to litigation, which the local taxpayers would have to financially support,” the statement read.

The district said they understand people aren’t happy, and stressed they never altered the recitation of the pledge.  They also said students would still be able to say “God Bless America” after if they choose to do so.

“We understand that this is an important topic for many of our constituents; however, please understand that the District does not make the law. We follow it.”

In the meantime, an Alabama lawmaker introduced a bill last month to make sure that the Pledge of Allegiance is allowed to stay in public schools.

It came after Republican House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter found out that his grandchild’s school wasn’t reciting the pledge every morning.  This was actually despite a state Board of Education requirement.

He wrote House Bill 339, which would transfer authority over the pledge from the school board.

“I guess this gives it some teeth,” Ledbetter said.

As we wrote about last month, the American police officer is no stranger to delusional accusations and biased mischaracterizations.

Don’t think so? Ask someone whose congressional district they are in.

Better yet, try and have a conversation with your congressman.

Conversely, there is a police officer on virtually every street in America. So, it’s easy to see how police officer’s end up in the position they end up in. Politicians love to hide behind them and the public loves to hate them.

However, only in America would American citizens refer to the AMERICAN flag as “aggressive”. Seriously? It would be funnier if only it were a joke.

Last month, the Laguna Beach (CA) City Council had to actually have a meeting in order to vote to keep the new design for the local police vehicles after some residents referred to the incorporation of the American Flag into the design as ‘aggressive’.

Some even went so far as to point out that the ‘ice’ portion of the word ‘police’ was intentionally all in one color as a passive-aggressive subliminal message to their residents. Yep. You read that correctly.

While the new design was upheld and will remain, the fact that those concerns were even legitimized or entertained is alarming.

Not even beloved song-bird Kate Smith is safe in these times. Affectionately referred to as ‘The First Lady of Radio’, Ms Smith is best known to this generation for her rendition of Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America”.

New York Yankees  fans have spent the better part of the last 18 years singing along with her during the seventh inning stretch; that is until some less known songs of hers were discovered that had some less than appropriate lyrics as it pertained to African Americans.

Ok, to be fair, less than appropriate is an understatement. One of the songs was titled, “That’s Why Darkies Were Born”.

When faced with that revelation, the Yankees, along with other sports franchises who had also been using Ms Smith’s rendition at their arenas, effectively banned its use. Philadelphia Flyers fans were apparently so traumatized that they covered up a statue in her honor that was located outside of the Wells Fargo Center.

Here’s where the pandering hypocrisy of, specifically in this case, the New York Yankees smacks you right in the teeth.

From the late 1800’s until April 15, 1947 and the bravery of Jackie Robinson , African Americans weren’t even permitted to PLAY on a Major League Baseball team; and even after Jackie broke the color barrier, African Americans still continued to play under extreme racial tension.

Just ask Henry “Hank” Aaron how the fans felt about him breaking Babe Ruth’s record; and, folks, that was in 1974. Well after the Civil Rights era and 27 years AFTER Jackie Robinson took the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

So, while the New York Yankees and their allies seem to have made it to the summit of Mount Morality, they may want to be sure there aren’t any mirrors up there, or someone might start asking questions.

Folks, it’s a little known fact that you can actually remember our failures as Americans and learn from them. Pretending they never happened doesn’t make them go away and, quite frankly, is childish.

The fact that, in 1931, some 16 years before Major League Baseball even thought African Americans were worthy of playing on their teams, Kate Smith recorded a song that is atrocious by today’s standards, does NOT make her suddenly a demon; certainly no more than every MLB owner of that time and those who still support an organization that was clearly historically racially biased.

But, again, it’s not who’s morally correct. It’s about who is the first to the top of the mountain.

It would seem that our podium thumping politicians are boring with picking on police officers.

Not even fireman are safe. Back in 2016, the head of the Central Coventry (RI) Fire District began instructing the firemen to remove the American flags from their fire trucks.

If you thought the residents of Laguna Beach were looney for feeling that our flag is aggressive, hold on to your tinfoil hat.

Central Coventry Chairman Fred Gralinski compared the firefighters to terrorists:

“They look like a bunch of yahoos,” Gralinski said. “Like in the paper, like ISIS in Syria going to take over a city. I don’t think they need that big flag on the back of the truck. That’s not America to me. Those are a bunch of terrorists. So, I’m going to ask you to take the flag off the truck.”

I’m sure this won’t be the last attack on our Brothers in Red or our flag. But what could politicians possibly do in the meantime?

I mean, we’ve reached a point where we now favor free education for the children of illegal immigrants over caring for the children of our military veterans.

We’ve accused police officers of aggression for displaying an American flag decal.

We’ve attacked a beloved song bird for atrocious choices that truly belong to an entire nation.

We’ve even compared firefighters to terrorists for displaying an American flag on their fire trucks.

Who’s next? Oh! I Know! NURSES!!

Oh, yes. Now even the life-saving front line and very face of healthcare isn’t even safe. Last week, in reaction to a bill that would ensure nurses received uninterrupted meals, rest breaks and mandatory overtime protection, state Senator (WA) Maureen Walsh argued:

“I would submit to you that those (small hospital) nurses probably do get breaks,” Walsh said, according to the outlet. “They probably play cards for a considerable amount of the day.”

Has this woman ever been to an emergency room? If so, she can’t be serious.

But once you get past the flagrant disrespect of her statement, you can’t help but savor the delicious irony that this statement is coming from a mouth that is part of the most over-paid, over-valued, unregulated and under productive part of both our state and federal government today.

Ladies and gentlemen, the pandering has gotten way out of hand. It is impossible to have a real and true discussion on the problems we face as a society when we can’t even reasonably define what a problem is.

This is not an attack on veterans, police officers, firemen or nurses. This is veiled attack on our nation, using the aforementioned as merely excuses.

We are crumbling from within and our own governmental officials are the ones leading us to the slaughter.

There is a good portion of our own government that has taken an active part in the globalist trend, devaluing the United States prowess and demonizing our history.

This same portion has pandered to the malcontents and anti-government youth who, despite historical failures and more recent failures such as Venezuela, overwhelmingly and ignorantly favor socialism over a capitalist society.

They do this in order to simply get votes. They do this for their own selfish motives. What they don’t see is that they are metaphorically squeezing toothpaste out of a tube that you’ll never be able to put back in.

They are paroling cop killers at an alarming rate. They are granting new appeals to others. They are even quoting them at political rallies as though they are an authority on anything other than cop killing.

They are lessening the punishments for attacking police officers and even making a police officer’s ability to legally defend himself or another harder and more legally dangerous.

The attack on our flag and the flagrant disrespect for America’s civil servants and front line care takers cannot and should not be tolerated.

We, as Americans, are entitled to disagree and that disagreement and subsequent debate is what drives change.

However, if we can’t even unify under our flag and rally collectively rally around and on behalf of those who serve our communities and country, then we have truly crossed the rubicon.

Stop the insanity. As long as we are fighting each other, “We the people” have no power; and the politicians want it that way. Once you realize we are ALL chess pieces in a game that we’re not invited to play, you start to see the bigger picture.

Take care of our military veterans and their families. Take care of our civil servants and their families. Most of all, take care of each other.

We keep saying ‘God Bless America’. Now let’s get back to a time where we actually MEANT it.
