Report: Volunteer caught ‘counting’ ballots in Philadelphia suburb in basement, unsupervised

PHILADELPHIA, PA- As we are about to enter the 2nd week of Election 2020, we continue to hear reports of possible irregularities with the vote-counting process coming from numerous swing states, which from initial appearances seems to have given the presidential nod to someone who barely left his basement during the run-up to the election.

After President Trump, who had what appeared to be an insurmountable lead Tuesday night, somehow saw his lead evaporate as absentee and mail-in ballots began being added to the count, which obviously led to questions about the process.

Nowhere are those questions more pronounced than the vote count in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which turned the results in that state from a Trump majority to a Biden majority.

The Western Journal reported that according to Mike Roman, the director of Election Day operations for the Trump campaign, he showed a video that was posted on Twitter, it shows a woman who purported to be a volunteer handling absentee ballots by herself, unsupervised in a basement lunchroom.

Roman tweeted:

“In Philly suburbs ‘volunteers’ are handling absentee ballots in the basement lunchroom of the counting center. The ‘election supervisor’ LEFT! They don’t know his name? Are you kidding me?”

Following are responses on Twitter:

In a White House media pool report provided to correspondents who cover the White House, President Trump noted that the mail-in voting issues surpassed even his worst fears.

“Democrat officials never believed they could win this election honestly. I really believe that. That’s why they did the mail-in ballots, where there’s tremendous corruption and fraud going on. That’s why they mailed out tens of millions of unsolicited ballots without any verification measures whatsoever.

“And I’ve told everybody that these things would happen, because I’ve seen it happen. I watched a lot of different elections before they decided to go with this big, massive election with tens of millions of ballots going out to everybody—in many cases, totally unsolicited,” he said.

“This was unprecedented in American history. This was by design. Despite years of claiming to care about the election security, they refuse to include any requirement to verify signatures, identities, or even determine whether they’re eligible or ineligible to vote.

“People are walking in that they have no idea; they’re just taking numbers. They’re writing down things—the workers—and doing a lot of bad things. And we have a lot of information coming and litigation that you’ll see that will shake even you people up, and you’ve seen it all,” he said.

Many people have noted that the mail-in voting experience in 2020 has been a disaster.

Even the Wall Street Journal, which didn’t weigh in one way or the other as to what did or did not constitute a valid ballot, however noted in an editorial that mass mail-in voting was “an unholy mess.”

Still others however said such a process is here to stay.

“Whether it’s enacted statewide by the legislature, or whether we adopt it on a county level with some tweaks, I think it’s here to stay,” said Nathan Fletcher, a Democratic San Diego County supervisor, as reported in the San Diego Union Tribune.

“We should be doing everything we can to make it possible for valid votes to be counted.”

While as of the moment no proof of widespread fraud has been found, there seem to be enough questions to merit much closer investigations.

In fact, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has ordered election officials in Pennsylvania to sequester all ballots received after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the New York Post reported.

The Post said that Alito granted a request on a provisional basis by Pennsylvania’s Republican Party, which noted that a court order was needed in order to assure that all 67 election boards in the state were complying with an order from Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, the Washington Post reported.

Alito gave state authorities until Saturday afternoon to respond, the Post said.

Last month, the Supreme Court did not make a decision on the extension of dates for ballots to arrive to three days after the election, however maintained certiorari in the case, which means it can be reheard. At that time, there were only 8 members on the high court, with Amy Coney Barrett recusing herself due to not having had time to review the particulars of the case after her appointment only a few days prior.

However, Boockvar had directed election officials to segregate any ballots received after Election Day to be set aside due to the challenge from the state’s GOP. Last week, the high court declined to expedite a hearing in the case.

On Friday, the state Republican party filed emergency court papers which said that “a total of 25 Pennsylvania county boards of elections have not indicated whether they are segregating the late-arriving ballots.”

“If county election boards count and do not segregate late-arriving ballots, it could become impossible for this Court to repair election results tainted by illegally and untimely cast or mailed ballots,” the GOP said.

As of Thursday, Boockvar told CNN that various counties had reported “from zero to…about 500 ballots received the day after Election Day.” Emphasis on “the day after Election Day.”

“So unless it is super close, I don’t see them making or breaking this [election] one way or the other,” the Democrat said.

Of course, the possible election hijinks has also found its way down to under ticket races, with Michigan Republican Senate candidate John James also appearing to be a victim. He found himself way up on election night, but as did President Trump’s apparently insurmountable lead, James also found himself on the short end as the week drew on. For more on that, we invite you to:

DIG DEEPER

DETROIT, MI- As Michigan continued to count ballots the day after Election Day, Republican John James’ Senate campaign accused local officials of impropriety, voter suppression, and election interference after incumbent Gary Peters picked up hundreds of thousands of votes overnight.

Fox News reported that James’ allegations came as chaos unfolded outside a vote tally room at the TCF Center in downtown Detroit where all mail-in absentee ballots were being collected. The chaos caused officials to place cardboard over the window in order to obstruct the public’s view as well as bar individuals from coming into the room.

Stuart Sandler, a consultant for James’ campaign, who also observed the count as a volunteer lawyer, told Fox News that they believe there were “a lot of irregularities” throughout the process that must be looked into. Sandler said in a statement:

“There were all kinds of chicanery, including ballots that came in reportedly in the middle of the night at 3:30 a.m. 35,000 ballots that were deceptively brought in.”

He added:

“There have been a lot of irregularities and lack of integrity. They’re not letting challengers in, they’re not letting them get food or water. When they do, they’re not letting them come back. There are all sorts of disruptions to the process.”

Up until the early mornings hours on Wednesday, November 4, James was holding a significant lead. Sandler has alleged that Mark Brewer, a former state Democratic chairman, organized the arrival of dozens of lawyers and activists to the TCF Center in order to “disrupt the process.” Sandler said:

“There’s a lack of integrity there. The people of Michigan made their choice and they’ve been trying to disrupt the process and we’re reviewing our options.”

However, Brewer insisted that the process of counting ballots has been the cleanest and most effective Detroit has ever had. He said in a statement to the Associated Press:

“This is the best absentee ballot counting operation that Detroit has ever had. They are counting ballots very efficiently, despite the obstructing tactics of the Republicans.”

Still, a source close to James’ campaign said:

“Poll challengers weren’t even able to get close enough to the ballot for the voter rolls to confirm that the ballots are credible, that people didn’t already vote.”

Previously, Michigan’s Secretary of State said she was expecting 2.5 million absentee ballots. However, by the morning of November 4th, a sourced alleged that that total increased to 5.6 million with the majority going up in places like Detroit.

Former State Sen. Patrick Colbeck, who is a registered poll watcher and was on the scene, told Fox News that what he witnessed was an “obfuscation and a complete lack of transparency.” He said in a statement:

“We’re being expressly denied the access to the ballot count area, at the most critical time. And you know, it’s very telling.”

He added:

“I can tell you right now, it’s not a free and fair election and I’ve been watching this for quite a while. So, get the word out, Democrats are attempting to steal the election and the best way to go off and fight back on this is to let people know what’s happening.”

The complaints from the James campaign follow the announcement from President Donald Trump’s campaign also alleging a lack of access to counting stations. Trump 2020 campaign manager, Bill Stepien, said in a statement:

“President Trump’s campaign has not been provided with meaningful access to numerous counting locations to observe the opening of ballots and the counting process, as guaranteed by Michigan law.”
