Report: Biden administration stockpiled weapons in Afghanistan just months before collapse – for the Taliban?

WASHINGTON, DC- This Afghanistan fiasco keeps getting stranger and stranger.

Just a day or so after it was reported the US had abandoned huge stores of unmined lithium, vital in the production of rechargeable batteries which the administration has married the US to by 2030, Reuters is now reporting that despite the Biden administration’s planned withdrawal from the country, they continued sending significant amounts of military equipment to the country.

Just about one month ago, the Afghan Ministry of Defense posted pictures on social media of seven brand new military helicopters arriving in Kabul courtesy of the United States.

“They’ll continue to see a steady drumbeat of that kind of support going forward,” said feckless U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin a few days later in a news briefing.

About a month later, those helicopters…along with fighter jets, drones, Humvees, armored personnel carriers and a whole bunch of weapons are now in the hands of the Taliban. The equipment was abandoned as the former Afghan Army and Air Force fled after the Taliban began to run roughshod over the country.

Why would the administration ship firearms, drones, communication gear, etc., to a country they planned on abandoning within months?

The Liberty Loft reports that even as the Taliban advanced across Afghanistan, the shipments continued. This week, the Taliban bragged about the military equipment they had secured, posting pictures of it on social media.

Reuters said one administration official said, “the current intelligence assessment was that the Taliban are believed to control more than 2,000 armored vehicles, including U.S. Humvees, and up to 40 aircraft potentially including UH-60 Black Hawks, scout attack helicopters, and ScanEagle military drones.”

While it isn’t believed the Taliban has the capability to use the more hi-tech equipment such as the Black Hawks, they were apparently able to obtain biometric equipment that identifies the Afghani’s who can do so, with chances being they will use their families as ransom to gain their cooperation.

Reuters said that administration is “very concerned” about the equipment the Taliban has seized and has contemplated air strikes, however no such plan has yet been developed.

One might think that such a plan would have been carried out to scuttle the equipment prior to it being seized. Some reports indicate some aircraft have been relocated out of the country.

One other concern is that despite the administration downplaying the Taliban getting the technologically advanced equipment due to their inexperience in utilizing it, China and Russia, which DO have experience have both made friendly overtures to the terrorist regime.

Neither China nor Russia have closed their embassies in Afghanistan, an indication that they wish to engage with the Taliban. Both of those countries, which possess similar technology to the US could provide the training necessary to the terrorist group.

The whole process of continuing to supply military grade equipment to Afghanistan even as the Taliban was rapidly gaining a foothold is bizarre. It is almost as if it were purposefully done.

The US removed its military assets from the country before evacuating civilians and basically gave up two airfields which could have assisted in that evacuation. There was no plan put forth to evacuate anyone…so it was either deliberate or a screwup of epic proportions.

The Biden administration is in the process of trying to figure out how to evacuate the over 15,000 Americans who are either trapped or abandoned in the country. While they promise to extract all Americans from the country, just a few days ago, according to CNN, the administration curtailed the number of evacuation flights.

In addition, the Daily Wire reported this week that the State Department was charging citizens $2,000 to get out of the country. Law Enforcement Today reported on that Thursday. More on that below.

The administration has also been sending mixed messages on the ability of the US to evacuate Americans stranded in the country by Biden’s knee-jerk removal of remaining US troops prior to evacuation of all civilians.

On Wednesday, Biden said that US forces will remain in the country beyond the Aug. 31 deadline for a total withdrawal, the Washington Times reported.

That was in direct contradiction to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s comments that the US military “lacks the capacity on its own” to reach stranded US citizens who are unable to make it to the country’s only international airport.

 Biden made his comments in an interview with administration bootlicker George Stephanopoulos of ABC News, where he told him that “if there’s American citizens left, we’re going to stay till we get them out.”

Besides Austin, the State Department also said the US had little practical hopes of ensuring safe passage for both Americans as well as some Afghan allies to flee Taliban oppression and retribution. Reports say the Taliban has the airport completely surrounded.

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN- In a shocking report filed by the Daily Wire, they are reporting that the Biden administration is charging U.S. citizens for evacuation flights out of Afghanistan, with non-citizens being charged even more.

It’s like the administration is getting financial advice from Mexican cartels who are charging migrants substantial sums of money to transport them across the U.S. border.

According to Politico,  people attempting to escape Afghanistan after Biden evacuated US troops leaving people to fend for themselves are being charged substantial sums of money to get a flight out of the country, now under control of the Taliban.

“Even though U.S. officials tell NatSec Daily and others that evacuation flights from Kabul will be free, people trying to catch a plane in the Afghan capital say differently,” Politico reported.

“One person said State Department staff were seeking large payments—up to $2,000—from American passengers and even more from non-U.S. citizens.” 

Politico confronted the State Department over the information and shockingly they didn’t deny this was in facto occurring.

“U.S. law requires that evacuation assistance to private U.S. citizens or third country nationals be provided ‘on a reimbursable basis to the maximum extent practicable,’” the spokesperson said. “The situation is extremely fluid, and we are working to overcome obstacles as they arise.”

“In other words, the Biden administration may request payments for evacuation flights,” the report continued.

Shocking.

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) slammed the Biden administration for implementing such a strategy and said she was going to file legislation in order to ban the U.S. government from charging Americans for such flights.

“Biden created this crisis, now he wants to charge Americans who are desperately fleeing the Taliban? That’s wrong,” she wrote on Twitter. “We should not be making Americans pay for their ride to safety. I’m drafting legislation now to PROHIBIT the US government from charging Americans, period.”

As is typical, you have a Twitter numbnut who apparently doesn’t know how to read responding to Rep. Tenney. He claims she is “spreading lies…without any evidence.” Maybe if this dimwit read the State Department’s website, cited in the story he would have gotten educated. Perhaps a good course of Hooked on Phonics is a good recommendation:

 

Well he’s apparently a zombie, so there’s that.

While State Department spokesman Ned Price told the Daily Caller that the administration has “no intention of seeking any reimbursement from those fleeing Afghanistan,” that seems to contradict what the State Department said over the weekend. Clearly, this is an administration in total disarray.

Last weekend, the State Department issued a completely contradictory statement.

“Repatriation flights are not free, and passengers will be required to sign a promissory loan agreement and may not be eligible to renew their U.S. passports until the loan is repaid,” the administration said in a security alert issued last Saturday.

“The cost may be $2,000 USD or more per person.”

According to the Washington Examiner, a separate State Department webpage seems to confirm people fleeing the Taliban will be forced to pay for the privilege of doing so despite the fact this was perpetrated by the Biden administration’s incompetence.

In extreme situations, if there are no commercial transportation options (planes, trains, boats/ferries, etc.) available, and if we have consular officers at the embassy or consulate, and if the conditions permit, we may help U.S. citizens seeking to depart by working with the host government, other countries, and other U.S. government agencies to identify—and in some cases arrange—available transportation.

Regardless of the method of transportation, or who provides it, U.S. citizens (and others who are eligible for U.S. government assistance) are generally responsible for reimbursing the government for the cost of their travel.”

The same page answered the question of “will the U.S. government pay for my evacuation if it is needed?” stating:

No. U.S. law requires that the assisted evacuation of private U.S. citizens or third country nationals be provided “on a reimbursable basis to the maximum extent practicable.”

However, we do understand that you may not be able to access your own money during a crisis. For evacuation transportation that we arrange to transport you out of a crisis location, you do not have to pay before you board. To board these transports, you will need to complete and sign a form promising to repay the U.S. government.

The amount billed to evacuees is based on the cost of a full fare economy flight, or comparable alternate transportation, to the designated destination(s) that would have been charged immediately prior to the events giving rise to the evacuation. Because different evacuation transports may go to different destinations, the cost of one transport may be different than another.

We encourage people to leave on the first transport they are able and eligible to board.

The guidance goes on to tell potential evacuees they are responsible for costs incurred at their destination, to include hotel, food, clothing, etc.

Oh, but the good news is, you can get financial assistance in the form of a loan. Knowing the federal government, we’re sure it’s a competitive rate. Meanwhile, illegals who cross the southern border get flown across the U.S. at government expense.

This is how the administration treats those whom they have put in harm’s way because of their incompetence. Absolutely shameful.

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN- The human pandemic, Joe Biden has another failure to add to his resume.

After turning the border into a free-for-all, destroying the US economy, and destroying our energy independence, Biden has managed in just a few short weeks to make the lives lost in the so-called “war on terror” meaningless.

After removing US troops from Afghanistan only to see the Taliban run roughshod over the country, Biden is sending troops back there to evacuate those Americans remaining in the country. What’s the Paula Abdul song, “One step forward, two steps back?” 

Saturday, the incompetent one ordered a temporary troop surge in order to evacuate embassy staff in Kabul prior to the Taliban likely taking control of the city this coming week. An estimated 5,000 American troops were redeployed to the war-torn nation, the Post Millennial reported.

Earlier this week, when questioned about the Taliban’s advances, Biden said, “…the likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the country again is highly unlikely.” He then left for a five-day vacation to Camp David.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA) weighed in on concerns about how the withdrawal of American forces came about.

“Tonight we held a call with Afghanistan’s Ambassador to the US to discuss the deteriorating situation.

“I remain deeply concerned with the Biden Admin’s mismanagement of their bungled withdrawal. Much like his failed withdrawal from Iraq, it is an embarrassment to our nation.”

In an unbelievable display of abject incompetence and naivete, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki this week, when asked about a “negotiated political settlement” in Afghanistan actually said that the Taliban “has to make an assessment on what they want their role to be in the international community.”

Like the Taliban gives a rat’s ass about their standing “in the international community.” They’re savages.

Several months ago, Biden tipped his hand about a full withdrawal from Afghanistan, scheduling the final “unconditional withdrawal” from the country on September 11, 2021—the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that prompted the military engagement in the first place.

The accelerated withdrawal came as the Taliban has run roughshod through the country, taking one provincial capital after another on their march to Kabul.

The Washington Post reported that an internal memo they received a copy of indicated the US Embassy in Kabul has been told to “destroy items which could be misused in propaganda efforts,” which included American flags.

So while the Biden administration concerns themselves with “propaganda items,” it was reported this week that the Taliban terrorists had seized billions of dollars of US military equipment from Kunduz airport, equipment left behind as the United States abandoned Afghanistan without so much as a measured withdrawal strategy, the Independent reported.

Among items the Taliban seized which can now be used against those 5,000 US troops redeployed in the country are MRAP (mine-resistant ambush protected) vehicles, drones and Humvees. Yes, you read that correctly. The military abandoned military equipment behind to be potentially used against US troops.

German journalist Julian Ropcke of Bild posted photos on Twitter showing equipment seized by the Taliban. Ropcke reported that equipment left for the Taliban includes MaxxPro MRAP vehicles, ScanEagle Drones, and Humvees.

The equipment had been turned over to the Afghan military by the US ostensibly to be used in order to defend themselves; instead they turned tail and ran, abandoning the equipment.

Oh yeah, they also managed to acquire a Blackhawk or two:

The internal memo received by the Post said:

“Facilities will provide destruction support between 0830 and 1600 daily until further notice, please take advantage and reduce the amount of sensitive material on the property.

“Please also include items with embassy or agency logos, American flags, or items which could be misused in propaganda efforts.”

Well done, Joe. China and Russia are laughing at you…and us.
