Rep. Ilhan Omar turns car, knife attack on Capitol police into an explanation of why we need to ban AR-15’s (op-ed)

WASHINGTON, DC- “Never let a crisis go to waste.” Even if it means making absurd comparisons.

On Friday, a black supporter of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan attacked two US Capitol police officers, killing one. He used his car to crash into the officers, and was subsequently dispatched to “paradise” by responding officers. The killer had also threatened other officers with a knife.

This tweet won’t age well, but is expected from left-wing loons:

So surely, far-left nutjob Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) called for cars to be banned after one was used to attack the two officers, right? Nope, she used the fact that the officers were attacked using a vehicle to once again rail against “assault” weapons, according to The Blaze.

In a tweet, Omar said:

“Heartbroken to learn another CP was killed while protecting the Capitol. My thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family and the entire Capitol Police force. The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had an AR-15 instead of a knife.”

Wait, what? A dirtbag uses a vehicle to mow down two police officers and Omar uses the incident to further her anti-gun rhetoric? The death toll could have been worse if he drove a truck full of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil into the officers as well. What the hell does one have to do with the other? That’s right, nothing.

Omar’s tweet did not go unnoticed, with Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy eviscerating her in a response.

“@Ilhan Truly despicable of you to capitalize on the heartbreak and grief of a fallen officer’s family to promote your political narrative. Officer Evans and his family deserve better from a sitting member of Congress.”

In a subsequent tweet, Dunleavy added:

“Officer Evans and his family deserve better from a sitting member of Congress,” he added.

Yet another response, this time from a human rights lawyer read:

“You missed the part he was an Islamist and supporter of Louis Farrakhan,” said Arsen Ostrovsky.

“Not surprised in the slightest that this detestable woman is using tragedy as an opportunity to advance a radical agenda,” tweeted commentator Ashley St. Clair.

The tweet of the day making Omar to appear as the utter fool that she is came from Joe Simonson of the Washington Examiner:

“Imagine if he had a nuclear bomb that also shout out bees, and what if the bomb went off next to 20 million babies. Could be really bad.”

Yet another said, “Your thoughts aren’t with the officer, they’re obviously on your political agenda. Just don’t bother next time.”

Sebastian Gorka blasted Omar and also launched into Joe Biden, who apparently tried to draw a comparison between the Friday attack and the incident on January 6.

“Black Nation of Islam terrorist kills this police officer Billy Evans with his car so Ilhan Omar blames AR-15s and Biden connects his death to President Trump’s rally on January 6th. Are you pissed yet?”

Ian Miles Cheong added:

“Had to make it about guns even though a gun wasn’t involved. It sounds like Ilhan Omar wanted the attacker to have an AR-15.”

The idea of Omar defending the police is laughable. She has been one of the leading voices from the political class in the defund the police movement, and has used all manner of demeaning adjectives to describe police officers.

Oh, but we get it…Capitol police officers protect HER ass. So they are important, or at least she feels she needs to project that.

BizPacReview said that according to social media posts from the attacker, he was apparently upset over losing his job and also apparently suffered from delusions that the government was performing “mind control” operations on him.

Capitol police officer William Evans, an 18-year veteran was killed in the attack, while the second officer was seriously injured and was hospitalized in stable condition on Friday.

The attacker’s Facebook profile, since removed (read censored) from the platform was reviewed by Fox News prior to being removed. His page noted he was a follower of the Nation of Islam and saw Farrakhan as “Jesus the Messiah.” Looks like the only mind control was from the Nation of Islam.

“My faith is one of the only things that has been able to carry me through these times and my faith is centered on the belief of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan as Jesus, the Messiah, the final divine reminder in our midst,” he said. “I consider him my spiritual father.”

As one would expect, Omar wasn’t the only left-wing lunatic to assign a false equivalency to the attack.

[P]MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan made the same analogy as Omar:

“Imagine if today’s Capitol attacker had gotten out of his car not with a knife but with an AR-15. Imagine the police death toll. Just imagine. #guncontrol”

Well clearly Hasan if the attacker had an AR-15 in heavily gun-controlled Washington, DC, he would have already broken probably a dozen existing laws. Your analogy proves that even in heavily gun-controlled areas, criminals still have the potential of having illegal guns. Get it?

So of course, out of the interests of being consistent, we should examine who else has been supporters of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, right?

Well, according to Mike Cernovich, another member of the “squad,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) wrote a column for Nation of Islam and Farrakhan, who has a history of anti-Semitic, misogynistic and homophobic rants.

Fox News also added that the number three leader in the House, Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) had shared a stage with Farrakhan in 2011.

Likewise, Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL) had praised Farrakhan in 2018, referring to him as “an outstanding human being” who “does outstanding things,” while adding that he had no problem with the anti-Semite’s position on “the Jewish question.”

Not to be outdone, far-left radical freshman Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) also praised Farrakhan in 2018, noting that the Nation of Islam’s “voice has been important for the development of black theology.”

Finally, wacky California Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has long ties to the radical Farrakhan and Nation of Islam.

So, but the “rules” and standards put in place by the Democrats, all of these people who support Farrakhan by extension must have supported the Capitol killer and should be excoriated by the mainstream media for helping to “facilitate the hate that motivated” the killer. All in the interests of being “consistent,” right?
