Rep. Crenshaw: Violent mobs are holding America hostage by terrorizing cities

On Monday, Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), spoke with Fox News Channel’s “The Story” and gave his view on what has been transpiring across the country. He said that he believes America is currently in the midst of a “hostage crisis.”

According to Breitbart, Crenshaw went on to say that this is because:

“Violent, left-wing mobs, Antifa mobs, are saying that if you don’t give us power, if you don’t give our political wing, the Democratic Party power, we’re going to keep terrorizing your cities.”

Crenshaw continued:

“Now, why do I say that their political wing is the Democratic Party? Well, because I find it interesting that Democrats cannot, for the life of them, condemn Antifa and these violent mobs.”

He added:

“How do I know that they just want power? Because normally, protesters have some kind of demand, right? There’s something that would stop their protest, maybe a policy change, but that never happens.”

He finished by saying:

“Even when Portland defunds their police, it doesn’t stop the mob. They continue because it’s power that they’re after.”

On the same day, Crenshaw also spoke with Fox News Channel’s, “Fox & Friends,” where he urged viewers to consider the seriousness of the choices on the ballot this November.

According to Breitbart, in his discussions, Crenshaw alluded to the positions Democrats have staked out on law enforcement, economics, and China. He warned listeners that this Democratic Party is much different than that of former President Barack Obama.

He said:

“I think a lot is at stake, OK and my suggestion to the American people is start listening to Democrats. We have to listen to what they’re telling us. They talk about defunding the police. They talk about making excuses for violent mobs. Let’s take them at their word.”

He continued:

“They want to destroy the things that bring us together, our common bonds, our founding, our love of country. And why do they do that? Why do they say those things? Because, fundamentally, they want to dismantle our country and our institutions. That’s not my word, that’s their words, dismantle our economic freedom, our border security, our energy sector, all of it.”

He said:

“Now, I don’t think most Americans want that. I think we want a renewed sense of faith in the country. I think we, I think we want to have our kids love our country again. I think we want to restore faith in our police force, restore safety in our communities, and we want to rebuild our economy.”

Crenshaw reiterated:

“We had the greatest economy that our country has ever known. We want to rebuild that. We want to rebuild our infrastructure along with it. So, you’re seeing a very clear choice in 2020. You know, it’s chaos versus safety and security.”

He said:

“It’s socialism and doubling your taxes versus economic freedom. It’s government takeover of your health care versus keeping the doctor that you trust. It’s acquiescence to China versus holding China accountable. These are important themes and the different could not be more severe.

“This is not President Obama’s Democratic Party and people need to realize that.”

Back on June 10th, Crenshaw did an interview with host Steve Doocy of “Fox & Friends,” where he pointed out that the call for dismantling and defunding police is now more than just an undercurrent or fringe opinion.

He said:

“It’s happening across major cities. Bill de Blasio has talked about doing it in New York City. The mayor of Los Angeles has done the same, talking about defunding the police and actually taking action to defund the police.”

Crenshaw said that a neighborhood needs safety to thrive and that there are no examples of a community becoming safer with less policing.

Here’s more on Democrats and their out of touch approach to the current riots.
It is becoming clearer by the day. Democrats are perfectly fine with insurrectionist terrorists destroying American cities, as long as they can lay the blame on President Trump.

When you have a complicit media trying to accomplish the same goal, it isn’t a wonder, because with limited exceptions, none of them will lay the blame where it belongs.

After federal officers were called in to protect federal buildings, Democrats are actually calling for an investigation into why this was done.

USA Today reported that the Democratic chairs of three committees in the House are demanding the inspectors general under the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security investigate the alleged use of force by federal law enforcement officers against anarchists in Portland.

While they are referred to as “anti-police ‘protesters,’” they are anything but. Portland has had in the neighborhood of 54 straight nights of violence, whereas the federal officers only arrived last week.

The three tone-deaf Democrats demanding the investigation wrote a joint letter to Michael Horowitz, the DOJ inspector general, and Joseph Cuffari, inspector general for the DHS.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, and Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney said on Sunday that the Trump administration has “Increasingly abused emergency authorities to justify the use of force against Americans exercising their right to peaceful assembly.”

We don’t know what “peaceful assembly” they were referring to but that clearly is not what is going on in Portland, Oregon.

Looting, vandalism, and burning of property has continued unabated since the end of May, when George Floyd died partially at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.

The three amigos referred to recent reports alleging protesters had been “swept off the streets” purportedly by unidentified federal agents as evidence that “this misuse of resources and personnel remains a growing threat.”

Reuters said that neither representatives from Justice nor Homeland Security or their inspector general offices had responded to requests for comments on the Democrats’ letter.

“This is a matter of utmost urgency,” they wrote. “Citizens are concerned that the Administration has deployed a secret police force, not to investigate crimes, but to intimidate individuals it views as political adversaries.”

“Accordingly, we write to request an investigation by your offices into the use of federal law enforcement agencies by the Attorney General and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security to suppress First Amendment protected activities in Washington, D.C., Portland, and other communities across the United States,” they wrote.

So, let’s examine some of these “peaceful protests” held under shield of the First Amendment, as Nadler, Maloney and Thompson suggest.

As The Epoch Times reported, on Saturday some of these “peaceful protesters” broke into the offices of the Portland Police Association. The offices were broken into around 10:45 p.m. as other “protesters” blocked a nearby street with dumpsters, then set them on fire. You know, as most “peaceful protesters” do.

Shortly after the break-in, the “peaceful protesters,” a number of whom were wearing helmets while carrying clubs and shields started a fire inside the offices. While setting the fire, the “peaceful protesters” chanted “black lives matter!” Video footage of the incident appeared to show a desk on fire, which officers were able to put on later on.

When police arrived at the building, most of the “peaceful protesters” scattered like the little rats they are. Portland police officers declared the incident a riot “due to the violent conduct of the large group creating a grave risk of public alarm,” police said in a statement.

The incident descended into anarchy with people among the “peaceful protesters” throwing items at police, such as rocks, smoke bombs and paint-filled balloons. Some officers sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile remember that some politicians in Portland are demanding that police stop wearing riot gear.

While that riot was going on, a simultaneous disturbance was underway downtown, were hundreds of “peaceful protesters” barricaded doors of the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse. They took fencing that had been placed around two city parks were some of the anarchists had been attempting to set up a so-called “autonomous zone.”

Another offshoot of that crowd blocked a gate at the Justice Center, where there are typically several hundred inmates, as well as police officers.

Federal officers used tear gas, as well as other crowd-control measures to disperse the crowd, according to video footage taken in the area.

As previously reported in Law Enforcement Today, the feckless governor of Oregon, Kate Brown (D) and the equally incompetent mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler have been demanding that federal officers leave Portland, with Wheeler tweeting,:

“The best thing they can do is stay inside their building or leave Portland altogether. Our goal is to end these violent demonstrations quickly and safely. And in the meantime, I asked (federal officials) to clean up the graffiti on local federal facilities. I told the Acting Secretary…we do not need or want their help.”

“End these violent demonstrations quickly and safely?”

Gee Ted…you’ve had nearly two months. How’s that working out for you?

President Trump had tweeted, “We are trying to help Portland…their leadership, has for months, lost control of the anarchists and agitators. They are missing in action. We must protect Federal property, AND OUR PEOPLE.”

The president had sent federal officers, including agents from the U.S. Marshals Service, Federal Protective Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including the elite Border Patrol Tactical Unit, to Portland to help quell the violence adjacent to and including federal buildings.

The president also dispatched Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf to oversee the operation. Those federal properties included the Hatfield building, which rioters had been trying to set up an autonomous zone across from, similar to the one created in Seattle.

One African American police officer noted the hypocrisy of people “protesting” at a Black Lives Matter Protest, with more blacks on the police side than on the protest side, where “you have white people screaming at black officers. Once again, you have a privileged white person telling a person of color what to do with their life.”

Wolf blasted Wheeler and Brown, noting that he would not order officers to withdraw.

“A federal courthouse is a symbol of justice—to attack it is to attack America,” he said, referring to the Hatfield courthouse. “Instead of addressing violent criminals in their communities, local and state leaders are instead focusing on placing blame on law enforcement and requesting fewer officers in their community.

“This failed response has only emboldened the violent mob as it escalates violence day after day.”

Despite the fact that Portland has been a virtual war zone for two months, Wheeler tried to assert that things were “winding down” before federal officers arrived.

Portland Police Association president Daryl Turner met with Wolf when the federal officers arrived. He has been an outspoken critic of Wheeler and other city officials.

On July 8, Turner released a statement which said that the police union had “no confidence that City Council will stop the rioting and looting and protect the safety and livelihoods of all Portlanders.”

Turner said that Portland police officers had been called “murderers,” “pigs,” and “white supremacists” by activists and others, including members of the city council.

One city council member in particular seems to be on a power trip, Jo Ann Hardesty. She has referred to the federal officers as “an occupying force.” She further demanded that local officers stop cooperating with federal officers and railed that Wheeler should turn the job of commissioner over to her.

“I demand action right now. Mayor Wheeler, if you can’t control the police, give me the Portland Police Bureau.” Hardesty, by the way has demanded defunding of the Portland Police Department.

On July 18, Wheeler directed federal law enforcement staff to remove themselves from the police bureau’s incident command center.

“While sharing a space helped facilitate clear communication, based on recent actions by federal law enforcement officers, I am not comfortable having them in our space,” he said.

Wolf said the decision was “dangerous,” claiming that it “puts lives at risk.”

“Local police & federal law enforcement benefit by regular communication—not less. This decision defies logic & plays politics with officer safety,” Wolf said on Twitter.
