Louisville, KY: A LMPD officer with less than two weeks on the job who rushed in to a local bank to confront a deadly active shooter still in critical condition. But the community support continues to grow for Officer Wilt.

Earlier this month, Officer Wilt and his partner received a frantic call of an active shooter. They wasted no time rushing into the chaotic scene. A bank employee, later identified as 25 year-old Connor Sturgeon , went on a shooting rampage that ultimately killed five people and injured another eight. Sturgeon was eventually killed by responding officers.

As Officer Wilt and fellow Officer Galloway reported to the scene, both were shot at. Ofc. Galloway received minor injuries and was treated and released. Ofc. Wilt however was shot in the head and later listed in critical condition. He was eventually upgraded to critical but stable condition but then caught pneumonia. After the latest medical diagnosis, Ofc. Wilt was transferred to another local hospital for specialized treatment where he remains today.

Both officers are labeled as heroes for their courage for being the first to report to the deadly shooting.
