On March 2, 1990 Sheriff’s Deputy David James recieved a call to investigate some teenagers causing trouble. By his own admission he made a couple of safety errors. He was shot 5 times by a 16 year old. The first shot hit him in the head, he totally lost one eye and was blinded in the other. The other 4 shots hit him in the back. After many months of medical treatment limited vision was restored in one eye. As a result of the shooting he developed kidney problems and eventually received a kidney transplant from a relative. After several years that transplant failed.

Sgt. David James received a life saving second kidney transplant in miraculous and heroic circumstances.

In addition to talking about the incident, he discusses his long road of rehabilitation and recovery. He also discusses his mission which is to help first reponders that have been through traumatic events.
