Postal worker charged after thousands of pieces of mail and ballots found in trash

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ – A postal worker from New Jersey found himself under arrest after it was discovered that he was throwing thousands of pieces of mail, and ballots, into dumpsters and not delivering them.

The man, Nicholas Beauchene is facing federal charges of delay, secretion or detention of mail and obstruction of mail, after it was discovered he was allegedly throwing the items in dumpsters.  United States Attorney Craig Carpenito alleges that 1,875 pieces of mail and 99 general election ballots were found in dumpsters in West Orange and North Arlington.

When Beauchene faced a federal judge to answer the charges, he remained quiet.  He posted a $25,000 bond and was released into the custody of his brother.

United States Attorney Sara Merin had argued unsuccessfully to have the bond set at $50,000 in part because he had already resigned from his position, and because he allegedly confessed to the crime.  Merin said that there was “no indication that there was any political motive” behind throwing out the ballots.

Carpentino said that the mail that was discarded was scheduled to be delivered on September 28, October 1st and 2nd.  The mail was meant for Beauchene’s route as he was the only mail carrier for that area.

The mail that was recovered was photographed and sent back out for delivery.  The photocopies were done in order to present evidence in court if the case goes to trial.

The mail that was thrown away, beyond the ballots, were 627 pieces of first class, two that were certified mail, 873 pieces of standard delivery, and 276 pieces of political advertisements for the West Orange Town Council and the Board of Education.

If convicted, Beauchene could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for delaying of mail.  Obstruction of mail carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

A man who discovered some of the illegally discarded mail items, Howard Dinger, told the Associated Press:

“At first it looked like junk mail circulars and things like that, and the I flipped over a piece and I saw something that said address correction and all the kind of thing.  It’s important mail, but thing, flip through a few more pages I saw the ballots on it, and at that point I knew it was serious.

“To be honest, I’m not very political.  I mean the election is important, but I was more concerned about social security checks, you know, credit checks.  Things like that.  All kinds of stuff, and it’s important to a lot of people.”

Dinger called the post office after his discovery and notified law enforcement.  He was shocked to learn the amount of mail that he had discovered.

He said:

“Unbelievable amount of mail.  And there’s all bundled like for each block.  I guess that’s about two to 300 pounds of mail.”

Issues like this are one of the warnings of the Republicans and current President Donald Trump.  They have been able to cite numerous examples of ballots being thrown away and manipulated, which is underreported in the mainstream media.

Now, it may be true in this instance that Beauchene’s alleged actions had nothing to do with political motivations, however, the simple truth is if those discarded pieces of mail and ballots had not been discovered, 99 people would not have had their votes counted.

A concern that one of the President’s campaign staffers, Abigail Marone, pointed out when she tweeted:

“It’s literal insanity watching the lamestream media pretend there are no issues with universal vote by mail.  Ballots are being thrown away.  Voters are receiving incorrect & mislabeled ballots.  States are mailing out duplicate ballots.  The American people know the media is lying!”

And yet, we are all led to believe that there are no issues with mail in voting.

More than 1,000 Virginia voters receive two absentee ballots after Democrats push to expand mail-in voting in state

September 26, 2020

RICHMOND, VA –  Some Virginia voters who requested absentee ballots received a little more than they asked for, finding two ballots in the mail for every one ordered.

For months, Republicans have been warning that the Democratic Party is pushing for mail-in balloting as a way to ensure that voter fraud occurs because they are scared they cannot win with Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

And for months, Democrats have repeatedly claimed that the mail-in voting process is safe and say it’s necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Yet, every week or so, there is another report of some type of voter fraud.

While no votes had been cast in Virginia, the opportunity that many could vote twice through mail-in balloting is a real concern and multiple ballots being sent to voters does nothing to dispel those fears.

More than 1,000 voters received an extra ballot in the mail, according to Republican officials in Virginia.  Fox News reported that the issue occurred after the Democratic party pushed to expand absentee voting in the state.

Absentee ballots no longer require a reason and any registered Virginia voter is allowed to request one.

State GOP Chairman Rich Anderson, said:

“We knew the Democrats’ many last-minute changes to our election law would make our elections less secure, but no one could imagine voters receiving two ballots.”

Election officials claim the issue had nothing to do with the Democrats, but rather equipment malfunctions.  They said that some of the label printing machines had jammed, causing some mailing labels to be duplicated.

Gary Scott, the Fairfax County Registrar told NBC 4:

“Before the supervisors caught it, the people applying the labels applied them to the entire sheet of labels rather than just pulling out the ones that should have been processed.”

Scott claims that anyone who sends in a second ballot will be caught out because of their system of checks and balances.  Scott said:

“Because every ballot that’s returned, we make an entry into their voter record that they have returned a ballot.  So, if something else shows up, the ballot has already been returned.  We can’t count that ballot.”

Scott advised any voter who received a second ballot to destroy the extra one.

In all, there were 1,400 duplicate ballots sent to voters across the state.  Fairfax County saw the most reported ones at roughly 1,000.  Another 300 were sent to the City of Richmond and 100 to Henrico County.

Republicans’ concerns may well be legitimate that widespread mail-in voting will increase voter fraud

Now, many people will claim that the election offices throughout the country have been able to catch a significant amount of voter fraud.  While this is true, consider the cases of voter fraud that have not been caught or won’t be caught in time for accurate counts.  After all, only an idiot would believe that every potential illegal ballot was caught.

Instead of recognizing that the Republican Party, and President Trump, has a point, democratic leaders choose to ignore the facts and instead paint the president and his supporters as liars.

Instead of taking action to ensure that the general election is fair and impartial, Democrats accuse the Republicans of trying to suppress votes.
