Portland Mayor complains rioters are helping Trump (as they lock people in buildings and try to burn them down)

PORTLAND, OR.- Wow, so Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has finally woken up from his slumber and condemned the “peaceful” anarchist “protesters” that have been ravaging his city for over two months, finally admitting that they are “attempting to commit murder.”

Moreover, he is concerned that they are going to help get President Trump re-elected. Oh, the horror!

“When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder,” said Wheeler at a Thursday press conference, according to the Washington Examiner.

Wheeler’s comments came in response to the declaration by the Portland Bureau of Police Services of yet another riot last Wednesday morning when the anarchists attempted to burn down a police precinct in the city, this time with officers inside.

“Don’t think for a moment that you are, if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump—because you absolutely are,” he said. “You are crating the b-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump.”

You see, Wheeler expressed zero concern, at least initially, about the officers whose lives were put at risk by the attempted arson of the police precinct. That is secondary. This is about Donald Trump’s reelection. See how that works? Screw the police, we are worried about an election. True leadership there, Wheeler.

On Tuesday, a group of terrorists ( we won’t even dignify them by calling them rioters) also arrived at the Portland Police Association building and started to block traffic.

They then set a dumpster on fire in the middle of the road, then moved and set the corner of the police building on fire. Police reported that people started to vandalize the building and attempted to pull the plywood off windows and doors, which had been boarded up.

“I believe that city staff could have died last night. I cannot and I will not tolerate that. This is not peaceful protests. This is not advocacy to advance reforms,” Wheeler said.

Well, maybe he does actually think about the loss of human life, even if it was as an afterthought.

Fox News meanwhile reported that the rioting mob also spray painted over security cameras, shattered a glass door with a 2×4, threw fireworks and other objects at officers, in addition to lighting the fire with accelerant. Police also reported that a truck attempted to run over police officers.

The doors of the precinct targeted was barricaded prior to the fire being set, with more than 20 police officers and civilian employees inside, Fox affiliate FOX 12 reported.

Police used tear gas to disperse the mob and sources said that at least eight people were arrested. Police had been barred by a federal court order from using tear gas unless a riot was declared, which it was in this case.

Oregon Live reported that Wheeler had admonished peaceful protesters to stay away from gatherings which could turn destructive or violent.

“If you are a nonviolent demonstrator and you don’t want to be part of intentional violence, please stay away from these areas,” Wheeler said.

“Our community must say that this violence is not Portland, that these actions do not reflect our values and these crimes are distracting from reform, not advancing.”

Not for nothing Mr. Mayor but this is EXACTLY what Portland is, and has been for years. These types of “demonstrations” are nothing new, but that is what you get when you embrace anarchist Antifa-type thugs and demonize the police.

Wheeler however was careful to say, along with police and fire officials, that they support the Marxist Black Lives Matter Movement, as well as peaceful protests.

Since the death of George Floyd, anarchist thugs have protested across the country, while there have also been peaceful protests. In Portland, the anarchy has been especially bad with the nightly, usually violent, and destructive protests continuing daily.

Last month in the city, anarchists tried to burn down the federal courthouse in the city, prompting the Department of Homeland Security to deploy federal officers to the city to defend federal property. Last week, anarchist thugs burned a pile of Holy Bibles, as well as U.S. flags.

“A totally surreal experience. You get large, nonviolent demonstrations where people march, they chant, they give speeches, then shortly after they are replaced with a smaller crowd, though still large, who immediately start trying to break into and destroy the federal courthouse.

They have transposed their hatred for the president and for law enforcement onto the physical structure of the federal courthouse and the uniformed personnel whose job is to protect that courthouse,” a Homeland Security Department agent who had been sent to protect the courthouse said about the anarchy going on in the city.

“They throw homemade Molotov cocktails, try to set the walls on fire, try to cut and pry through the plywood covering the glass walls, all the while screaming vitriol until their voices are cracked and hoarse.

“When DHS personnel are visible, they throw frozen water bottles at them, canned goods, paint, and gasoline. They try to shine high-powered lasers into our eyes, which can cause permanent damage. They chant and spray paint ‘feds go home’ as one of their slogans and that could be easily achieved. If they could prove they wouldn’t destroy the courthouse, DHS personnel would go home. It is that simple,” the agent added.

Back in the middle of last month, Wheeler told Chad Wolf, the Acting Secretary of Homeland Security that the city did not require assistance from DHS to put down (at the time) 47 consecutive nights of protests and riots in the city.

That didn’t age well as only days later Wheeler was hit with tear gas by federal agents and jeered and mocked by the anarchists when he appeared at a riot outside the courthouse.

When you sleep with the enemy Mayor Wheeler, expect to get hit.
