GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the disappearance of a young Kentucky mother of four after discovering human remains on his property.
Savannah Spurlock went missing back in January. She was last seen on security tapes leaving a bar in Lexington, Kentucky with two men. Police say her last known location was at the home of David Sparks, roughly 40 miles from the bar.
Officials say human remains were found at that home this week. Authorities had searched the area before but were tipped off after a neighbor reported that a putrid smell was emanating from the man’s residence.
Though police say they have not yet determined whether the remains are that of Spurlock, they found additional items buried in the yard that they believe were tied to the missing woman and the suspect, who has been taken into custody and booked into a Madison County jail.
The call about the smell led police to the home of David Sparks, “the primary suspect in a missing persons investigation.” Fox reported that during the search officials found remains — and other items — buried on the property.
“These items were last known to be in the control of only two individuals, the missing person, and the above,” the citation states, according to WKYT.

Now the labs will test the human remains to see whether or not they match up with the missing mom.
The remains will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, Ky., Kentucky State Police Trooper Robert Purdy said.
The home reportedly belongs to Sparks’ parents. Police originally searched the area on January 22 after questioning the two men seen in the security tapes from the Lexington bar. Though the men were questioned, authorities did not file any official charges against them. After the call about the decomposing smell coming from the house, police obtained a search warrant and returned to the home, eventually discovering the human remains.
