Oh to be a so-called “reverend.”
The self-proclaimed minister of no church in particular has a charity called the National Action Network.
Sharpton, who also has a “news” program on MSNBC called Politics Nation, has also managed to pad his income as president and CEO of NAN. According to tax filings obtained by the New York Post, Sharpton took in over $1 million dollars from the charity last year.
His salary was $324,000, with an additional “bonus” of $159,596, plus “other compensation” totaling over $563,000. The salary was a 32% increase over his salary in 2007.
According to NAN, the extra cash was to “make up” for thirteen years between 2004-2017 when he did not receive his full compensation.
At his weekly rally at the House of Justice in Harlem, Sharpton defended his compensation. The weekly rally is also a cash cow for NAN, where participants drop cash in a bucket at the entrance.
“Fifteen years, you are talking about since 2004 when I came back after running for president,” he said. “For anybody else it would be laughable.”
What is laughable is the fact that Sharpton has made in excess of six figures every year since 2008, the last time he went without a salary. What is also laughable is that Sharpton owes years of back taxes, both to New York and to the IRS, both personally and for three companies that he owns. The state tax debt stands at over $698,000. He finally paid the state of New York back taxes of $95,031.21 this past June.
Last year, Sharpton sold the rights to his “life story” to his own charity for $531,000. Nice income if you can get it.
According to NAN, the deal was approved by an unnamed “executive committee” that approved the deal. However, some people have questioned the sale.
Linda Sugin, who is a law professor at Fordham University and associate dean said in part:
“…it’s really difficult because of his role in the organization and just because of his overall influence.”
NAN stated that the purchase, by means of selling rights to Sharpton’s story, would provide revenue back to the organization. However, neither Sharpton or the charity, could identify any producers who were lining up to produce such a program.
According to Sharpton, the sale of the rights came from two NAN board members, but he declined to identify who they were. According to the Reverend Al, they were looking to create streams of income for the charity for when Sharpton steps down, supposedly next year.
Sharpton also claims that there are movies in the works (no doubt will be Hollywood “blockbusters), with a contract for a third. Sharpton claims that one of the movies is already in production. However Sharpton refused to provide details of any of the projects.
With all of that said, NAN could run into trouble with the IRS. IRS rules prevent giving excess benefits to a non-profits officials, which can then jeopardize the organization’s tax-exempt status with the IRS.
Aside from the “life story”, NAN also sold the rights to a documentary that was filmed on the night of his 65th birthday gala. According to Sharpton, he hadn’t received any money from the sale as of yet. Referring to NAN, “they have already made a profit off the birthday,” hosted by Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson.
Unbelievably, Sharpton, who has been a sharp critic of police officers across the country, somehow earned a sit-down with incoming NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea, according to the Daily News. How a charlatan like Sharpton is elevated to such importance is mind-boggling.
“Great opportunity, great discussion here today,” Shea said.
He goes on.
“It’s very fitting that I’m here, I think, because I am the police commissioner to-be, of not the police department but of all New York, of 8.5 million New Yorkers…I think a very productive discussion, areas of concern, and really, a first step in having a collaborative relationship moving forward, making sure that the police department is the police department for all.”
Of course Sharpton, living up to his shtick as anti-police and a race baiter, was not happy about Shea’s appointment.
“First and foremost, we expressed to the soon-to-be commissioner that we were very concerned and surprised that Ben Tucker had been overlooked to be commissioner,” Sharpton said.
And that’s unacceptable.
“Because of him (Shea) being chosen at a time when we felt Mr. Tucker had been overlooked for the second or third time, he comes with a sort of awkwardness that he inherits.”
So once again, as in Chicago recently, we should choose the leader of a police agency not on merits, but on skin color.
Sharpton also expressed concern about lack of trust among the minority community of NYPD, citing the Eric Garner situation and so-called “racial profiling” by the department.
Yes, there is Sharpton once again putting himself out as a champion of the “little people”, all the while raking in millions off the backs of those same people. Hypocrisy thy name is Al Sharpton.
Earlier this year, Sharpton and AOC held a press conference together, where Cortez made up a fake accent to talk to the African American audience.
You’re probably wondering why you didn’t see this story plastered all over the headlines. That’s easy.
It’s because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a socialist. If she were President Donald Trump or a Republican, the media would be in a meltdown, calling her a racist.
On Friday, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke to a mostly African American audience at a conference held by Rev. Al Sharpton. That’s where she seemed to roll out an accent, the likes of which we’ve never heard from her before. Ever.
‘Ain’t nothing wrong with that,’ the freshman Democrat drawled at Sharpton’s National Action Network conference in the Sheraton Times Square in Manhattan.
‘I’m proud to be a bartender. Ain’t nothing wrong with that,’ Ocasio-Cortez said. ‘There’s nothing wrong with working retail, folding clothes for other people to buy.’
Ocasio-Cortez slipped into the jarring accent repeatedly, which sounded halfway between Southern drawl and Boricua twang.
She also used her platform at the Sharpton conference to call for ‘examining and pursuing an agenda of reparations’ – among a list of other left-leaning policies including support for free public colleges
Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson weighed in on his show.
‘We’ve played a lot of clips of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she doesn’t talk like that in a single one of them. That’s fake, that what that is,’ he said.
Other critics hit Twitter to mock Ocasio-Cortez for her newfound accent.
‘I got five seconds into the video of AOC putting on an accent before cringing out,’ wrote Alex Griswold.

He’s a reporter with the Washington Free Beacon.
‘Ocasio-Cortez speaks in an accent that she never uses while telling a room of predominately black people that there is nothing wrong with them folding clothes, cooking, and driving other people around on a bus for a living,’ wrote Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra.

He compared her to Clinton.
‘She literally pulled a Hillary Clinton,’ he continued.
Hillary Clinton had a habit of slipping into Southern accents in front of certain audiences during her Senate campaign.
Ocasio-Cortez feigned shock, saying her accent was “authentic”.
‘Folks talking about my voice can step right off,’ she wrote on Twitter. ‘Any kid who grew up in a distinct linguistic culture & had to learn to navigate class enviros at school/work knows what’s up. My Spanish is the same way.’
As much as the right wants to distort & deflect, I am from the Bronx. I act & talk like it, *especially* when I’m fired up and especially when I’m home.
It is so hurtful to see how every aspect of my life is weaponized against me, yet somehow asserted as false at the same time.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 5, 2019
It’s all about where she grew up, she says.
‘As much as the right wants to distort & deflect, I am from the Bronx. I act & talk like it, *especially* when I’m fired up and especially when I’m home. It is so hurtful to see how every aspect of my life is weaponized against me, yet somehow asserted as false at the same time,’ she continued.
It’s true. Ocasio-Cortez grew up in the Bronx.
Until she was five.
That’s her family purchased a home in Yorktown Heights in upstate Westchester County.
She didn’t move back to the Bronx until after graduating from Boston University in 2011.
At the event where she rolled out her new accent, she used her speech to demand reparations to African Americans for slavery.
The controversial policy has gained traction among the field of candidates looking to oust President Donald Trump in 2020.
She also talked about her widely-mocked Green New Deal, which would entail a radical government-led overhaul of the economy. She said she ‘would not shy away’ from bold decisions on health care, wages and prison reform.
‘That is the moral political and economic underpinning of making bold investments and dignified jobs because that is the necessary plan to fix the pipes in Flint [Michigan] and clean the air in the South Bronx,’ she said.
She also called for unionized energy jobs, single-payer health care and Medicare-for-all.
And, in true socialist fashion, she added:
‘Tuition-free public colleges and universities to prepare our nation for the future, and for the end of mass incarceration, the war on drugs, examining and pursuing an agenda of reparations and fixing the opioid crisis too.’
Ocasio-Cortez said people shouldn’t think of her policies as being about the presidential cycle, but rather are “generational”.
Of course she didn’t say how she’d fund everything.
Or anything, for that matter.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a reparations bill in January. She said that ‘the impact of slavery and its vestiges continues to affect African Americans and indeed all Americans in communities throughout our nation.’
The measure is formally known as the ‘Commission to Study and Develop Reparations Proposals for African Americans Act’, and she said it would examine the ‘institution of slavery in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present, and further recommend appropriate remedies.’
In February, we published a letter submitted by a group of cops in the greater NYC area asking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to resign before she’s arrested. It absolutely exploded, leading to thousands of emails and messages. Among them… countless threats of violence from her supporters.
We started the letter with a note from our editor that read as follows:
The following article was submitted by a group of cops in the greater NYC area that have asked to remain anonymous so they don’t get fired. Remember, at Law Enforcement Today, the opinions of our writers don’t necessarily reflect the opinions of the staff and police officers who work at Law Enforcement Today.
Note, we specifically said don’t necessarily.
We could have just hit the delete button on the messages that were sent to us from her angry supporters. But we figured why do that when we could share them for your entertainment?
Here’s a selection of our favorites. We’ve cut the boring parts of out of some of them and censored others. We’ve left the spelling errors in them, because that’s just funny.
Below that, you’ll find the letter, in case you missed it.
I don’t know if you’re a Russian shill, a fat klansman sitting in his mom’s basement, or God forbid an actual officer of the law, but I felt the need to chime in that you are not only a discrace to your country and fellow white males, but also to carbon itself.
The star dust in your body is longing to go back to a time of infinite nothingness rather than exist another second in a vessel that spills out so many falsehoods and hateful bile to simple but well-meaning people across the nation….
Btw I’m the future of America. Your s#%t ideology is fading. You old bastards will die and each generation, more inner marriages and more rational humans will outnumber your cult. Enjoy extension [email protected]*face.
(You are) so desperately scared of an intelligent young Congresswoman, that you feel the need to write a ridiculous article threatening a duly elected public official, citing “anonymous” police officers. If she had actually committed any crimes, she would be under Investigation by real police. Sounds like somebody needs a hobby, or maybe you are one of those sad lil incels that can’t get laid, guess what! If you had an actual personality you’d probably have more luck. Women prefer confident men, even when they’re physically unattractive, so you must be a truly awful human being. After reading your article, one can only surmise that you must be terrified of strong, intelligent women. How sad for you…
You just hate her because shes a strong Latino woman. Where hunting down white men like you and when we find you, we’ll end you. Youre tyranhy with capiatalism is ending.
Rest easy noing that we her supporters are going to find out who them cops are that rode the newscast on your website. Theres a reason pigs are being killed every day, uz b*%#hes are askin for it.
You are just mad that socalism is going to put you pigs out of a job. F*#$ the police. We are taking to the streets. We are going to find where youre families live and we are going to make sure that its not safe for them to leave their houses. Sleep with one eye open. Make that to eyes open because youre days are numbered.
Dear Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
First, we want to congratulate you on your win.
*Slow golf clap*
You successfully demonstrated that if you rally together enough low-education voters and millennials and convince them that socialism looks like a well-endowed woman giving out whatever you want for free, you can sit in Congress with grownups and liberals.
You have become fodder for a lifetime of memes. You’ve become the butt of just about every joke in our department locker room.
You’ve become a unifying force among Americans who still possess their brain, tying us together in pure disgust for what has happened to our country.
You’ve proven that you don’t have to have ever held a real job or actually paid your taxes. We’ve learned that if you stomp your feet loud enough, play the identity politics game hard enough and make headlines through sheer stupidity, enough people will vote for you to propel you into the spotlight and a career as the kind of comedian where people don’t laugh with you, they laugh AT you.
And just when we thought you were going to blame all of the problems of the world on men – specifically, white men – we were wrong. You also blamed them on cow farts and airplanes.
Alexandria, when we were your age, someone like you never would have been a “thing”. You’re simply Insta-famous and a demonstration that social media might actually be the biggest threat to democracy that we’ve faced in years.
In our day, we recognized that socialism and communism accomplish nothing more than societal collapse. We would have pointed to places like Venezuela to drive our point home.
But no. Not today. Because gender-studies professors have indoctrinated our youth to believe that “feelings” trumpet “facts”. And so somehow you came along and were lifted upon the shoulders of people who believe that America is nothing more than a goody basket that anyone can stick their hand into and pull out a participation trophy or free handout.
But now we need to have some real talk – just us cops to you, the girl who is in way over her head.
Alexandria, it’s time for you to resign.
There are a lot of reasons for it. We could point to the fact that you want a nationwide gun ban and confiscation of weapons.
Sandy Hook happened 6 years ago and we can’t even get the Senate to hold a vote on universal background checks w/ #HR8.
Christchurch happened, and within days New Zealand acted to get weapons of war out of the consumer market.
This is what leadership looks like ⬇️ https://t.co/TcdR63anBt
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) March 21, 2019
We could talk about the threat you have created to a free society.
We could discuss the implications of your disastrous policies and ludicrous ideas like:
- A 70% tax
‘You look at our tax rates back in the ’60s, and when you have a progressive tax-rate system, your tax rate, let’s say, from $0 to $75,000 may be 10% or 15%, etc. But once you get to the tippy tops, on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60% or 70%.’
- The idea that stopping climate change will stop racism
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insisted at the Climate Town Hall that stopping climate change will end racism.
— Accuracy In Media (@AccuracyInMedia) December 6, 2018
- The idea that you should actually have to pay for things
Yesterday we started a convo w/ the rules pkg about ending #PAYGO, a political policy lacking economic merit that sabotages progress where Americans value it most: healthcare, education, housing, & more.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) January 4, 2019
- And the idea that screaming at a fence means America will get on your crazy train and abolish I.C.E.
But no… we’re asking you to resign because it appears you broke the law. And that’s not ok. And truth be told, we don’t trust your fellow congressmen and congresswomen to do the right thing and have you removed.
We saw the move that your people pulled last week. The Daily Caller let us know that you and your Chief of Staff were quietly removed from your roles as board members on the PAC Justice Democrats.
Tsk, tsk, Alexandria. You should have known better. Everything that happens on the internet now stays on the internet.
One might wonder if it’s a coverup. After all, it happened shortly after a complaint was filed with the FEC alleging that you and Saikat Chakrabarti committed campaign finance violations that helped you win the 2018 midterm elections.
I’ll put this in a way that my 6-year-old would understand: “that’s a big no-no”.
Now listen – the boys and I aren’t prosecutors. Trust me… Chief reminds us of that every day. And we’re well aware that after we arrest bad people who are public facing, politicians and power brokers usually step in and screw up our hard work.
But the thing is, Alexandria, you and your Chief of Staff could be facing multiple civil penalties or even jail time due to an investigation into whether you hid control of an outside PAC that helped solidify your win in the 2018 midterm elections.
According to the Daily Caller, you two gained majority control of the Justice Democrats PAC in late 2017.
And it was just last week, on March 15, when you two were officially taken off the Justice Democrats’ board, according to a corporate document to the Washington, D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
Like I said… we’re just a bunch of dumb cops – isn’t that right? God knows you have no respect for law enforcement.
But the thing is… we heard what the former FEC Commissioner had to say about it… and it’s not good.
Brad Smith said that if you two are found to have been in control of the PAC, which helped raise over $1.8 million before the June Primary vote, you could face punishments from “massive reporting violations, probably at least some illegal contribution violations exceeding the lawful limits.”
Justice Democrats helped raise funds for 12 Democrats in total, with you being the only one to win your race.
Oh, man – the optics on that sure aren’t good, are they? Those damn paper trails manage to trip up the best of them.
The Daily Caller tells us that you and your “chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti obtained majority control of Justice Democrats PAC in December 2017, according to archived copies of the group’s website, and the two appear to retain their control of the group.”
They also noted that you never notified the FEC that you and Chakrabarti obtained majority control of the PAC while it was supporting your campaign.
What’s up with that, AOC? If it’s true, that could mean you two pals violated multiple campaign finance violations!
I know you think Fox News is fake news and all that, but they reported that a complaint has been filed that you two were allegedly:
“funneling nearly $1 million in contributions from political action committees Chakrabarti established to private companies that he also controlled.”
Now I know you’re a big proponent of free college for everyone, so you’ve gotta be pretty smart. I want to throw in a fun little pop quiz to this letter.
Can you spell P-R-I-S-O-N?
Brad Smith noted that the penalties would be severe if you two:
“knowingly and willfully withheld their ties between the campaign and the political action committee from the FEC to bypass campaign contribution limits.”
Until just after the primary election, the Justice Democrats website showed that you two held “legal control” of the PAC.
“Justice Democrats PAC has a board consisting of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Saikat Chakrabarti that has legal control over the entity,” the Justice Democrats website read prior to the removal.
Now for just a hot minute, could we go back to the huge tax hikes you want to pass on the “wealthy” please?
Shouldn’t you start by taking care of your own unpaid tax bill? Or should we say “allegedly” unpaid tax bill?
According to public records, you still owe New York $1,870.36 in corporate taxes for Brook Avenue Press, a company you founded in 2012 to publish children’s books in The Bronx.
On July 6, 2017, the state slapped your company with a warrant. It was two months after you announced your candidacy to run against Democrat incumbent Joe Crowley for the district that includes parts of Queens and The Bronx.
The state requires businesses to pay a corporate tax on a sliding scale that goes based on revenue. In this case, your company was dissolved in October 2016 – something that often happens when a business fails to file a return or pay corporate taxes.
And while the state won’t comment on individual companies, it’s widely known they typically file a warrant only as a last resort after trying to collect money.
Now we know you don’t want to comment on it. But don’t you want an opportunity to brag about your old success story?
According to a YouTube video posted in October 2011, months before you filed corporate papers for the company in July 2012, you said you were creating a media company to “develop and identify stories and literature in urban areas like New York, specifically communities like The Bronx”.
You took advantage of cheap office space in a city-subsidized program called the “Sunshine Bronx Business Incubator”, which was housed in a renovated former printing plant in Hunts Point. Prices for office spaces and tech services in 2012 averaged between $99 for a “virtual office” and $275 per month for local start-ups.
The tax warrant was issued to Brook Avenue Press at that location.
We guess it didn’t go so hot.
You promised to work with “designers, artists and authors that really know the urban story and help develop stories for kids”.
But it doesn’t appear that your company actually published any books.
So much for that “success story”. Is that why it appears there are unpaid taxes?
Now let’s be fair, Alexandria. We believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. We also believe, as police officers, that where there is smoke, there is fire.
And if, of course, it’s proven that there is fire, it’s safe to say that our handcuffs clash with your $1,800 blouse (paid for with, well, capitalism).
We’re simply asking you to do what’s in the best interest of America, the country you’ve demonstrated that you so passionately hate.
We’ll even throw a fundraiser that will cover the cost of a one-way flight to Venezuela…because, socialism.
We’ll sell vegan burgers and green-tea lattes. And if there’s any money left over, I’m sure you know a good PAC that you’d LOVE to see some cash flow into.
Sgt. A. Merica and the other cops in the locker room
