ST. LOUIS – The officers were ambushed and didn’t have a chance to defend themselves.
Please keep the entire St Louis Metropolitan Police Department in your thoughts and prayers tonight. Two of their officers have been shot, one in the head.
Police Officers shot in America are sky rocketing in 2020 and no one is talking about it. Truly sickening. #EnoughIsEnough

That’s what we’re learning tonight about a shooting and standoff in St. Louis that started just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening.
According to investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, two officers were shot in the 3700 block of Hartford Street. That’s in the South Grand neighborhood just south of Tower Grove Park.
According to St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden, it happened when the officers were responding to a shooting call in the neighborhood.
They were searching for a victim when shots rang out.
One of the officers was hit in the head and immediately went down.
He’s currently in “very” critical condition, Hayden said.
Other officers rushed to the wounded officer. That’s when the suspect shot a second officer in the leg.
“Our officers have been going through a lot this summer, as you know,” Hayden said to reporters outside St. Louis University Hospital. “We’ve had a surge in violence.”
According to Hayden, eight officers have been shot in the line of duty since early June in the city.
“These officers, all they’re trying to do is their job and try to help a person who’s wounded and they come under fire themselves,” Hayden said. “The officer who’s most critically injured, pray for him.”
He says the officer shot in the head is 29-years-old and has 3.5 years of experience on the force. Hayden said the second officer is approximately the same age and has one year of experience.
Police say the suspect forced a couple out of their home and remains barricaded inside.
