BROOKLYN, New York – An incredible group of officers with the NYPD made sure that the discarded fetus of a pre-born baby girl got the funeral that she deserved by acting as pallbearers for the ceremony.

The Washington Times published the tragic, yet uplifting story of ‘Monica’, a pre-born baby girl who was found dead and alone in the streets of Brooklyn.

Six New York City officers served as pallbearers for the service on Saturday.

Members of the Life Center of New York, an anti-abortion group, organized the special ceremony for the forgotten child. The service was held in Basilica of our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood as Roman Catholic parishioners and local officers attended to pay their final respects to the innocent child.

The scene was described as tense and mournful as the NYPD bagpipes played the processional and the tiny casket was brought into the church.

Monica was reportedly found in February in a bag by a tree in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood, surrounded by bloodied clothing, the Times reported.

The medical examiner reported that the fetus was about 20 weeks old. The burial took place at Resurrection Cemetery on Staten Island in a section for abandoned remains.

Baby Monica was buried in the Guardian Angel section of the cemetery which is dedicated to stillborn and abandoned babies,” said the Life Center. “Please remember to pray for Baby Monica’s mother who, like Baby Monica and countless others, is a victim of the culture of death that has darkened our city, state and nation.”

Our take?

Another incredible initiative by our brothers and sisters in New York City. In an area that boasts a massive crime rate and uncountable deaths, it’s wonderful to know that even the most innocent, the victims without a voice, have people standing by that offer unconditional love.

Moments like these may be completely overlooked by the national media, but knowing what these officers did to give a proper resting place to a forgotten child is an incredible testament to those who are called to serve and protect the weak and the downtrodden.

As we continue to move into the cold world of online wars and crazed politics, we must never forget the importance of ALL life.

God bless these officers for their gift. It will not be forgotten.
