NYPD Officer Down
A veteran NYPD officer with over 200 career arrests was shot in the face and killed this morning at a robbery scene. Officer Peter Figoski, age 47, was pronounced dead just after 7 a.m. Figoski,of West Babylon (Long Island) NY, had 22 years on the job, and was awarded 12 departmental medals. Figoski was assigned the 75th Precinct which covers the East New York section of Brooklyn.
Figoski and his partner, Glenn Estrada, were backing up officers who initially responded to a robbery in progress in a basement apartment in the East New York neighborhood. Officer Estrada chased and apprehended Lamont Pride, who was fleeing from the scene. Another suspect is currently at large. Pride, age 27, will be charged with murder.
Figoski’s brother is a retired NYPD officer. His brother-in-law is a current member of NYPD. He will be remembered for his great love for his four daughters.
