CHICAGO – A mass shooting at a Chicago party left two dead and five wounded. The incident occurred in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

People were gathered for a party on the porch of a home in the 8600 block of South Maryland about 9:20 p.m. Sunday night. Someone wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt appeared from an adjacent alley and opened fire, according to Chicago Police. The shooter then fled on foot.

An 18-year-old man was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, 21, was shot in the back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately provide information on the fatalities, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

Another man, 35, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was also taken to Christ Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

Three additional victims, at least two of which are in their 20’s, were taken to Stroger Hospital with various injuries. The age on the third is unknown. They are classified as stable.

Later a seventh victim, 39, with a gunshot wound in the foot, appeared at Roseland Community Hospital, police said. He was listed in good condition.

In total, six males and one female sustained gunshot wounds, with two being fatal. Police did not release the names of the victims. Southside detectives are investigating the case.
