Chief Steve Conrad of the Louisville Metro Police Department in Kentucky sadly reports the death of Officer Nicholas Rodman.

Officer Rodman was assisting other officers in responding to a domestic violence assault where shots had been fired. The suspect fled the scene of the assault and led officers on a pursuit.

GovXRodman was turning in an intersection to assist in the pursuit and the fleeing suspect struck the driver’s side of his patrol vehicle. Officer Rodman sustained critical injuries in the crash.

Other officers pulled Rodman from his patrol vehicle, which had burst into flames. They transported him to University of Louisville Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. The suspect also sustained injuries in the crash and he was taken into custody.

Nicholas Rodman served the Louisville Police Department for three years. His wife, Ashley, their son and newborn daughter, survives him.
