Interim Police Chief Jimmy Butts of the Wadley Police Department in Georgia sadly reports the death of Officer Lawrence Thomas “Todd” Forrest.

Officer Forrest, 37, was killed in a two-vehicle collision. He was driving to a mandated training seminar that was being held at the Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro.

Trooper 1st Class Hunter Oglesby, public information officer of the Georgia State Patrol, stated that specific details of the crash were not unavailable. The crash investigation and reconstruction has not been completed. Officer Forrest sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The other driver was transported to the Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. He was listed in serious condition.

Forrest served the Wadley Police Department for several years. He previously served with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. His two sons, Trevor and Isaiah, his fiancé and her children survive him.
