Chief Mark McMurray of the Huntsville Police Department in Alabama sadly reports the death of Officer Keith Earle.

Officer Earle, 46, was involved in a head-on collision in his patrol vehicle two weeks ago. He was transported to the Huntsville Hospital in serious condition. After hospitalization, he was upgraded to stable condition, yet his situation suddenly deteriorated and he passed away.

Investigators are attempting to determine the cause of death. Therefore, an autopsy has been ordered to determine the extent of his injuries sustained in the crash and if an internal injury was undetected.

The crash investigation is not complete and remains open pending autopsy results.

“We are attempting to get answers to many questions that we all have,” the police department news release says. “We will be respecting the family’s wishes during this time so please be patient as we know everyone has questions surrounding these circumstances.”

Keith Earle served the Huntsville Police Department for 26 years. His family survives him.

Officer Keith Earle is gone, but will never be forgotten. EOW: Monday, April 9, 2018.
