Adam Putnam, Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Florida sadly reports the death of Officer Joshua Montaad.

Officer Montaad, 25, died as a result of injuries he sustained in a single vehicle crash. Montaad was driving his patrol vehicle during a severe storm with heavy rain. While he was driving, the patrol vehicle commenced to hydroplane. Montaad lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway, traveled down a slight embankment and stuck some trees. The vehicle then caught fire and became engulfed in flames. He died at the scene.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating the crash with the assistance of the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department.

Joshua Montaad served the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for four years. He is survived by his parents and siblings..
