Chief Michael McNeill of the Lumberton Police Department in North Carolina sadly reports the death of Officer Jason Quick.
Officer Quick, 31, was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was assisting with the investigation of another vehicle crash.
Another officer and rescue personnel were on the scene for the original crash when a passing vehicle struck Quick as he was crossing the northbound lanes of Interstate 95.
The emergency personnel immediately rendered aid to Quick and he was transported to Southeastern Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and an investigator of the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office are conducting the crash investigation and reconstruction.

Officer Quick served the Lumberton Police Department for several years. His wife and two children survive him.
