Chief Wayne Scott of the Greensboro Police Department in North Carolina sadly reports the death of Officer Jared Franks.

Officer Franks, 24, died as a result of injuries he sustained in a two vehicle crash. Franks was responding to a robbery in progress call with the emergency lights activated on his patrol vehicle.

Another patrol unit that was responding to the same call struck Franks’ patrol vehicle. After the initial collision, Franks’ unit then struck a house.

Consequently, he was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision and the investigation into the original robbery call is also continuing.

Officer Franks served the Greensboro Police Department for 2 ½. He was assigned to the Patrol Division in District Two. His parents and siblings survive him.

Officer Jared Franks is gone, but will never be forgotten.
