Sheriff Oliver Parker Jr. of the Quitman County Sheriff’s Department sadly reports the death of Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Clark.
Deputy Clark was killed in a single vehicle crash while he was responding to a shots fired call. While Clark was driving his patrol unit on a two-lane road, a couple of dogs ran across the path. As a result, he swerved to avoid hitting the dogs. However, due to the abrupt steering movement he lost control of his patrol vehicle. Consequently, it left the roadway and crashed.
Jimmy Clark served the Quitman County Sheriff Department for two years. He had previously served eight years as the chief of police in the city of Crowder.
His wife and children survive Clark.
Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Clark is gone, but will never be forgotten. EOW: Sunday, August 13, 2017.
