Media obsessed with Aaron Rodgers’ comments about “mandates”, ignore NFL players committing real crimes

GREEN BAY, WI- At one time, sports media reported on…sports. Not anymore. Now if you tune into, for example ESPN, you are lectured about systemic racism, bad cops, Donald Trump and of course, coronavirus.

We’re not really sure when this all started, but it began to escalate in 2016 when Donald Trump was elected president. Oh, you had NBC’s resident virtue signaling loudmouth Bob Costas weighing in on gun control, but for the most part, they just told you the down and yards to go. The latest target of the woke sports media mob is quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

What was his crime? Did he beat up his girlfriend? Shoot himself in the leg? Murder somebody? No, he went against the preferred narrative on the coronavirus vaccine. And the media and Twitter mob are losing their collective minds, Breitbart Sports reported.

Meanwhile, the NFL has a history of players who have committed real actual crimes…including domestic violence, robbery, drunk driving, and yes…murder. And in a number of such cases, the media gave them only passing notice.

Two rather significant issues in the sporting world have come up in the past week…Aaron Rodgers being diagnosed with COVID-19 and his “politically incorrect” response to the vaccine issue, and the drunk driving crash involving former Las Vegas Raider Henry Ruggs III that left a 23-year-old woman dead.

The story on Rodgers has been breathlessly reported practically 24/7 on sports media, while the case involving Ruggs has pretty much been given a pass.

In case you missed it, Ruggs crashed his Corvette into the back of the woman’s SUV, causing the cars to erupt in flames, as he was going well over 100 mph. The media’s reaction? They pretty much ignored it because after all, Rodgers wasn’t down with the coronavirus talking points.

Of course, the situation with Ruggs wasn’t the only one. Another Raiders player (it’s always the Raiders, isn’t it?) was shown on video appearing to threaten someone with a gun.

Last Friday, a video was posted to Twitter showing Raiders’ defensive back Damon Arnette appearing to carry some type of semi-automatic weapon. The media’s reaction? Yawn…hey, it wasn’t a coronavirus scofflaw, an offense which some in the media believe should be punishable by the firing squad.

Oh, and Arnette is also being sued relative to a hit-and-run crash on Oct. 14, 2020, where he slammed into her at about 65 mph, injuring a woman. Arnette apparently missed a turn into the Raiders training facility, TMZ reported at the time, and swerved into her car. He then left the scene and continued to the training facility.

The woman suffered multiple injuries in the crash, including head trauma and is dealing with chronic shoulder, neck and back pain in addition to depression and panic attacks as a result of the crash, Yahoo Sports reported.

He’s also being sued after an alleged incident at a Vegas casino, where he allegedly berated a valet worker, spit on him and poked him in the chest. The valet is seeking half-a-million dollars in that incident, according to Deadspin.

Then there is Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who stands accused of 22 sexual assaults. The media has referred to the sexual assaults as “alleged” incidents and speaks about Watson’s stalled NFL career and trade rumors.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill has also seen years of  following him, including domestic assault and child abuse but this too has been widely ignored by the mainstream sports media.

Want another one? How about Washington Redskins (sorry we refuse to call it the “Washington Football Team) former player Derrius Guice, arrested this past August for domestic abuse. While the team quickly released him, the sports media merely reported on the story, didn’t editorialize, no handwringing, no personal attacks…just reporting the news.

Not Aaron Rodgers, however. The three-time NFL MVP went against the narrative because he actually gave thoughtful, educated, and unemotional reasons for not getting the coronavirus vaccine.

And for that, he has a giant bullseye on his back from the mainstream media, who have called for his suspension by the NFL, have attempted to get companies such as State Farm to pull Rodgers from being their spokesmen, and have breathlessly claimed he “risked the lives” of young, healthy, athletic men.

At the same time, the same media yawn when it comes to real, actual crimes, including crimes against women and children.

In case you missed it, below is our previous report on former NFL quarterback and current social justice whiner Colin Kaepernick comparing the NFL draft to slavery…which is why he keeps trying to get a job as an NFL quarterback.

DIG DEEPER

He hasn’t made news in a few days, so of course it is time for him to start making an appearance to try to create relevance.

In his Netflix special, former NFL quarterback and documented cop-hater, Colin Kaepernick has said something that makes you scratch your head wonder if he just says stuff for the fun of saying stuff.

He called the NFL Draft process a situation similar to slavery.

Neither Kaepernick nor his asinine comments are strangers to the pages of Law Enforcement Today.

We have been covering drivel that comes out of this dude since just before he showed up at practice wearing socks that depicted cops as pigs. You know, back when there was still a team in football willing to pay him to come to “work”.

He protests our flag and anthem. We shared our thoughts.

While others say that kneeling isn’t about the flag, Kaep says it has always been about the flag.

Sorry, JJ. Even Colin admits…that is exactly what it is about.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” said Kaepernick. “How can you stand for the national anthem of a nation that preaches and propagates, ‘freedom and justice for all,’ that is so unjust to so many of the people living there?”

His American-hating, flag-bashing, race baiting tirades didn’t end there.

He called the 4th of July a racist celebration. We covered it.

He also said that the Betsy Ross flag was racist. We covered it.

He outright advocated for the release of a convicted cop killer. Check.

Ben & Jerry’s made an ice cream flavor centered around Kaep. We might have asked our readers to avoid that particular flavor, but, as the ice cream giant had already identified themselves as anti-law enforcement, we knew that would have been preaching to the choir.

We wrote about it anyway.

There is no lack of material to glean from. It is almost as though he is trying to outdo himself on just how stupid he can appear.

Case in point:

But, it’s this last one might be hard to top.

He actually said, “What they don’t want you to understand is what’s being established is a power dynamic. Before they put you on the field, teams poke, prod and examine you searching for any defect that might affect your performance. No boundary respect. No dignity left intact.”

The video shows actors portraying players at the combine morphing into slaves as a white slave owners (symbolic of the NFL team owners, apparently) bid on them, whipping them.

“Look at this here! Come on! Who wants this?” the auctioneer shouts.

Woah, hold on just a minute there Colin.

I struggle to find the words to respond with.

But, a former NFL player, who also happens to be black, had something to say.

This same process, that he now puts beside slavery, is the same process that garnered him a $5M contract, with $3.8M of that guaranteed.

While I do not have a history book in front of me…I dare say we cannot find a single account of slaves being paid well enough (or at all) to be financial set for life.

The game that removed all his dignity is one he still wants to be a part of. This just might be the epitome of irony.

Keep in mind, earlier in October, Kaepernick expressed an interest in playing again.

Don’t forget, he is being victimized by all 32 team owners. But he still hopes to find one of those slave owners to come calling.

“Absolutely. I am still up at 5 a.m. training five, six days a week making sure I’m prepared to take a team to a Super Bowl again. That’s not something I will ever let go of, regardless of the actions of 32 teams and their partners to deny me employment.

The same way I was persistent in high school is the same way I’m gonna be persistent here. And you’re gonna have to continue to deny me and do so in a public way. And you’re gonna expose yourself by that, but it won’t be because I’m not ready or not prepared.”

Hmmm…maybe he hasn’t stopped to consider that no one wants him because he is toxic to the team mentality. Maybe, just maybe, no one wants him because he isn’t talented enough to offset all the crazy.

Nope. According to old #7, the only reason he isn’t currently playing is because 32 wealthy people refuse to allow him to work.

I am right there with you Kaep. I am prepared to be the general manager of any NFL team with an opening.

I know I am qualified, as I have won my fantasy football league multiple times. The only reason I don’t have a job making several million dollars a year is because of all the rich, old owners that are refuse me that opportunity.

Meanwhile, the NFL Draft makes millionaires out of more than 100 players every year. Those players volunteer to be a part of the process, all hoping to get that contract that allows them to buy their mom a house as their way of thanking them for always being there.

But, in case any of us have forgotten, Kaep actually got the NFL to hold an audition day for him, as he tried to get back into the league. Twenty-five teams sent people down to watch the “pro-day.” And then it went south when he refused to show up for it.

ESPN personality summed it up best:

“Twenty-five teams show up in Georgia at the Atlanta Falcons practice facility — a state of the art facility with NFL personnel, equipment, video, everything — and what does Colin Kaepernick do? Colin Kaepernick wants to change the venue,” Smith said. “He don’t want to play! He wants to be a martyr.”

Kaepernick kept coaches and scouts waiting, then sent a message. If you wanted to see him work out, you would have to drive to a high school an hour away.

The handful that showed up to see him were met by Kaepernick wearing a Kunta Kinte shirt.

Larry Elder tweeted about that…bringing us full circle back to what Kaepernick talked about during his Netflix special.

Outkick’s Clay Travis closes it out rather succinctly:

“Colin Kaepernick compares the NFL combine, which allows all players of all races a voluntary chance to become multi-millionaires, to slavery. Anyone still defending this imbecile lacks a functional brain.”

Editor note: In 2020, we saw a nationwide push to “defund the police”.  While we all stood here shaking our heads wondering if these people were serious… they cut billions of dollars in funding for police officers.  And as a result, crime has skyrocketed – all while the same politicians who said “you don’t need guns, the government will protect you” continued their attacks on both our police officers and our Second Amendment rights.

And that’s exactly why we’re launching this national crowdfunding campaign as part of our efforts to help “re-fund the police”.
