WASHINGTON D.C. — A knife-wielding man was shot by a police officer in D.C. on Christmas Day, police said.
The officer responded to a call of domestic violence around 11:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Walnut Street Northeast when encountering a man armed with a knife, according to WTOP.
Police said the man refused commands to drop the weapon, and the officer fired. The suspect was identified as Gerald Hall, 29, of Northeast D.C.
He was seriously wounded and taken to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later said police.
The officer involved in the incident wore a body cam, which will be part of the investigation to determine the justified use of force. There were no additional details released.
