Sen. Ron Johnson says latest Hunter Biden revelations show “how sleazy this all was”

Following the latest revelations regarding the swirling controversies around Hunter Biden, with the latest installment coming from a report from Business Insider pertaining to two emails from 2015 and 2016, Senator Ron Johnson weighed in while appearing on Fox News’ “Hannity” calling the whole ordeal “sleazy”.

The New York Post also covered the update in the Hunter Biden debacle, but this latest controversy is not linked to the infamous laptop saga.

Instead, these emails come from Hunter Biden’s business contacts who were hyping the sorts of access that comes with working with Hunter: such as the Secretary of State as well the “access to highest level” in China.

The January 2015 email, which was sent by Democratic donor Sam Jauhari to another Democratic donor, Sheikh Mohammed al-Rahbani, also noted some of the negatives of working with Hunter Biden – such as him being a “drug addict”, “chasing low-class hookers” and how Hunter Biden “constantly needs money.”

This email purportedly referenced an effort to get Hunter Biden’s assistance on a deal regarding billions in Libyan assets that had been frozen by the Obama Administration.

A second email from February 2016 sent to two business contacts by Washington lawyer John Sandweg referenced the same Libyan endeavor, noting that Hunter Biden did “not want a large group involved and they only want people with whom they have a close relationship with due to the sensitivities surrounding their involvement.”

Needless to say, the contents are concerning, which was what prompted Senator Johnson’s take regarding the newly released reports while appearing on “Hannity” on September 23rd.

Show host Sean Hannity introduced Senator Johnson and then asked what he thought about the latest report on Hunter Biden:

“Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, he led a Senate investigation into Hunter Biden’s overseas business deal, and he joins us. All the things I just mentioned, Senator, you and Charles Grassley, you came up with a lot of it, short of the Burisma side of this. What can you tell us about legal vulnerability that exists here?”

Senator Johnson referenced how the Hunter Biden laptop story and his and Senator Grassely’s reports from last year sparked others to come forward with information, leading to the most recent report that alleges more possible avenues for corruption tied to the Biden name:

“So, our report was a catalyst for so much of this information now coming forward, but our report was a big warning. We tried to warn the American public that if they elect this very unfit human being, President Biden, that he was going to be compromised, that he represented a counterintelligence threat, an extortion threat, and now, we’re seeing example after example.

And this latest example with the Democratic and camp — or Obama campaign donors trying to maybe do it $2 million retainer, hopefully, they can get Hunter to help them unfreeze $15 billion of worth of assets for Libya. Of course, those gentlemen would get a percent cut of that. But that’s how sleazy this all was.”

Hannity asked the senator about whether he thinks foreign countries like China, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan could have compromising information on Hunter Biden, and whether this possible compromising information could extend to President Biden – also asking why is the media giving President Biden a “free pass” in all this.

Senator Johnson responded with the following:

“Well, you know the answer, that’s because the mainstream media put him in office they’re going to cover up for him. But, you know, what I do know is we don’t know a lot, but I know the Chinese government knows everything. The Russian government knows everything.

So these foreign countries that were doing deals with Hunter, they know exactly where all the bodies are buried, where all the corruption occurred. And it would be naive to think that they’re not, you know, holding that over President Biden’s head at this very moment. He is compromised.”

Report: Hunter tried to trade on daddy’s name, wanted to charge Libya $2 million per year to recover billions in frozen assets

(Originally published September 24th, 2021)

And the beat goes on.

Hunter Biden continues to be a thorn in the side to his father, the feckless Joe Biden.

According to ZeroHedge, citing emails obtained by Business Insider, Hunter Biden tried to enrich himself (again) by offering to recover $15 billion in frozen assets from Libya in exchange for $2 million dollars per year.

Given what we also saw from the laptop fiasco, it’s likely Joe Biden would be also included in the cut, the so-called “big guy.” The “fee” would have gone toward a “retainer” as well as “success fees.”

Business Insider reported:

The first email, dated January 28, 2015, was sent from Sam Jauhari, a Democratic donor with businesses in the Persian Gulf, who was helping spearhead the Libya project. It was addressed to Sheikh Mohammed al-Rahbani, another Obama donor involved in the proposal. In the email, Jauhari is frank about what Biden would bring to the table, and what he says Biden wanted in return.

“Per phone conversation I met with #2 son. He wants $2 per year retainer+++success fees. He wants to hire his own people—it can be close circle of people for confidentiality. His dad is deciding to run or not.

His positives are he is Chairman of the World Food program, son of #2 [Joe Biden] who has Libya file, access to State, Treasury, business partner SofS [Secretary of state] J. [John] Forbes K [Kerry] son and since he travels with dad he is connected everywhere in Europe and Asia where M. Q. [Muammar Qaddafi] and LIA [Libya Investment Authority] had money frozen. He said he has access to highest level in PRC [China]. he can help there.

His negatives are that he is alcoholic, drug addict—kicked [out] of U.S. Army for cocaine, chasing low class hookers, constantly needs money-liquidity problems and many more headaches.

We should meet in Gstaad or London to decide next steps.” [emphasis in report]

It should be noted that Jauhari was incorrect in a portion of the email…Biden was discharged from the Navy, not the Army. It is also unknown if Hunter Biden’s positive cocaine test was what indeed led to his discharge, ZeroHedge noted.

Business Insider noted that it was clear from the email Jauhari felt Hunter Biden’s connection to his father could lend a lot of credibility to the project.

For example, his connection to the United Nations food program meant he was able to gain access to foreign heads of state. In Hunter Biden’s book, he noted a meeting he had with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

“The only reason the king had agreed to meet was out of respect for my dad. I guess you could chalk it up to nepotism, in the best possible way.”

Clearly, Hunter Biden recognized he could trade on his connection to the then-vice president in attempting to enrich himself (and possibly others).

As has been reported numerous times, Hunter Biden claimed he had “access to the highest level” in the Chinese government, which ZeroHedge noted “has been a headache to Libya’s new government which was attempting to recover the $15 billion frozen by Obama during the Qaddafi regime.”

Regarding the “$2” retainer fees, Business Insider said they confirmed from a source that referred to $2 million dollars.

“My recollection was that anything that had to do with Hunter started at $2 million,” said the source.

The outlet said they also received other documents which read, “Jauhari and his partners expected to pocket as much as 5% of the recovered assets,” which translated to hundreds of millions of dollars.

The talks with Hunter Biden continued into 2016, with an email dated Feb. 26, 2016, showing that Jauhari and al-Rahbani continuing to work on the deal:

The second email, dated February 26, 2016, indicates that the talks with Biden continued into the following year. In it, Jauhari and al-Rahbani receive a report by John Sandweg, a Washington lawyer who had served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Obama. Sandweg had reached out to Biden’s team about the Libya deal:

“I spoke with HB’s team yesterday. They are interested in the project, but emphasized that for them to get involved, the team (lobbyists, lawyers, and PR) would need to be a small group of folks they have a tight relationship with. They do not want a large group involved and thy only want people with whom they have a close relationship with due to the sensitivities surrounding their involvement.”

Sandweg, who at the time was working at a law firm called Frontier Solutions, confirmed that he was in touch with one of Biden’s associates about the project. “They indicated they would consider it and I passed the message back,” he told BI. “Jauhari wound up hiring a different law firm instead.”

The author of the Business Insider piece, Mattathias Schwartz did note that the deal didn’t end up happening, and the emails weren’t derived from the infamous “laptop,” but were obtained from another source.
