Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb has publicly applauded law enforcement officers in the Hoosier State.
Through State Proclamation, Gov. Holcomb proclaimed October 1-7, 2018 as Peace Officer Appreciation Week.
In taking this action, he also encouraged Indiana citizens to “duly note this occasion.”
- Law enforcement officers play an invaluable role in maintaining peace and order in our society.
- Officers willingly place their lives at risk daily for the well-being of others.
- Those honorably serving provide positive role models that are worthy of emulation.
- Law enforcement families make great personal sacrifice to enable this service.
The governor’s actions are a sharp contrast to some of his counterparts across the country. For instance, Gov. Jerry Brown in California is working hard to undermine law enforcement authorities by releasing inmates from fulfilling their punitive obligation to the people of the State. Brown recently commuted 20 killers and pardoned 1,100 convicted felons, much to the chagrin of police officers in the Golden State.
