Colonel Scott G. Hernandez of the Colorado State Patrol sadly reports the death of Trooper Cody Donahue.

Trooper Donahue was struck by a semi truck tractor and trailer after he and another Trooper had completed a traffic investigation on the freeway. Trooper Donahue was standing outside of his patrol vehicle and was wearing a reflective vest at the time he was struck.

Trooper Donahue was pronounced dead at the scene. The Douglas County Sheriff Department in handling the crash investigation with the assistance of the State Patrol Reconstruction Team.

A few days ago, the CSP honored Trooper Jamie Jursevics who was struck by a drunk driver and killed just over a year ago near the same location. She had just returned to duty from maternity leave and left behind her husband and an eight month old daughter.

Trooper Donahue served the Colorado State Patrol for eleven years and was assigned to the Castle Rock Detachment. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
