Chief Gregory Porter of the Clayton County Police Department reports that rookie officer Sean Callahan, 24 died of a gunshot wound following a domestic disturbance.  Officer Callahan and other officers responded to the Motel 6 on Davidson Parkway in Stockbridge due to a domestic disturbance on Monday.  During the investigation of the incident, an arrest of both parties was attempted.  The male involved, Tremaine Lebis, 42, resisted arrest and fought with officers.  Lebis was able to break free from them and fled through the motel.

The officers pursued Lebis who drew a weapon and fired, striking Callahan twice in the head.  The other officers returned fire killing Lebis.  Callahan was transported to Grady Hospital where he underwent surgery.  He succumbed to his injuries and died about 5:16 am Tuesday morning.

Callahan served the Clayton Police Department for 4 months.  Officer Sean Callahan, gone but never forgotten.    EOW: Tuesday, December 18, 2012
