Sheriff Bill Prummell of the Charlotte County Florida Sheriff Department has reported that Sergeant Michael Wilson, 42, was shot and killed Monday night shortly after 10:00 p.m.

The incident was reported to 911 as a domestic disturbance at the Lakes of Tuscana Apartments on Veterans Boulevard in Port Charlotte.  The apartment complex is adjacent to I-75 near exit 170.

Upon responding that so-called a routine domestic call, Sgt. Wilson was immediately met with gunfire.   Additional details of the incident are not being released at this time as the ongoing investigation.

The suspect in the shooting, who is currently only identified as a white male, was found dead in one of the apartments in the complex shortly after midnight by the Sarasota County SWAT team who was assisting the Charlotte County Sheriff Department. 

Wilson is survived by his wife and three children.  Sgt. Michael Wilson, gone but never forgotten.  EOW: Monday, August 5, 2013
