Chief Kevin Vespia of the North Port Police Department in Florida sadly reports the death of Officer Dennis Gonthier.

Officer Gonthier, 57, was found unresponsive in his patrol vehicle as he was preparing to start his afternoon shift. Officer Gonthier was transported to a local hospital where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. It is believed that Officer gonthier suffered a medical emergency and died of natural causes.

Officer Gonthier served the North Port Police Department for fourteen years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
