Captain Noel McDaniel of the Hamilton County Parks & Recreation Department in Tennessee sadly reports the death of Park Ranger James M. Wallen Jr.

Ranger Wallen, 54, sustained a traumatic brain injury as the result of a patrol vehicle crash that occurred in 1989. Ranger Wallen and his partner were exiting the Hamilton County Riverpark when their patrol vehicle was struck.

Ranger Wallen’s life was saved by first responders and emergency room personnel at the hospital. Unfortunately, Ranger Wallen’s injuries were so severe that he required constant nursing care after the emergency medical treatment. Ranger Wallen spent his last 21 years of life in The Health Center at the Standifer Place. Ranger Wallen died due to complications of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Ranger Wallen is survived by his wife, Patricia; his mother, Gloria; sister, Mary; and two brothers, John and Matthew.
