Alex Coghill, Chief of the Canonsburg Borough Police Department in Pennsylvania, sadly reports the death of Officer Scott Bashioum.

Officer Bashioum, 52, and his partner, James Saieva, were both ambushed and shot while they were approaching a residence in response to a domestic disturbance call. The suspect ran back into the residence and committed suicide by turning his weapon upon himself. When other officers entered the residence several hours later, the suspect was found dead along with his wife who was six months along in a pregnancy.

Both Officer Bashioum and Saieva were transported to Canonsburg Hospital for medical treatment. Officer Bashioum succumbed to his gunshot wounds shortly after his arrival. Officer Saieva was airlifted to Allegheny General Hospital for emergency surgery. His condition is listed as stable following his surgery.
