Chief William Fitzpatrick of the Glenview (Illinois) Police Department sadly reports the death of Officer Owen Masterton.

Officer Masterton unexpectedly collapsed during roll call and died a short time later at Glenview Hospital. It is suspected that he suffered a catastrophic medical event of some type. An autopsy was performed the following day but the results were inconclusive as to the cause of death. The death investigation continues with a toxicology analysis.

Officer Masterton served the community of Glenview for 19 years and was well respected by his peers. He currently served as a patrol officer and previously served the Glenview Police Department as a firearms instructor, evidence technician and as a community relations officer. Officer Masterton is survived by his wife, Kelly; a 10-year-old son, Michael; his mother, Rita; and several siblings.
