In Memoriam – Officer Justin MaplesEvie West, a spokesperson for the Cleveland (TN) Police Department has confirmed that Officer Justin Maples, 34 years old was killed in a single vehicle patrol car crash on Sunday evening at about 9:30 pm.  The crash occurred in the 1600 block of South Lee Highway in the City of Cleveland near the Holiday Hill Motel.  Witnesses to the crash stated that Officer Maples was in pursuit of another vehicle.

Responding officers and rescue personnel extricated Maples from his patrol vehicle and transported him to Skyridge Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 10:21pm.  The investigation is being conducted by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Officer Justin Maples was a seven year veteran of the Cleveland Police Department and a member of the SWAT team.  Officer Maples is survived by both his parents who are active in the community, his wife, Danielle, and three sons, all under the age of five years.
