Chief William J. Bratton of the New York City Police Department sadly reports the death of Officer Juan Feliciano.
Officer Feliciano, 44, suffered a medical emergency while moving some department bicycles and performing an annual inspection on them.
Officer Feliciano had loaded several bicycles into a department vehicle and transported them to the Training and Repair Facility located at Floyd Bennett Field. As he was unloading the bicycle, he suffered a heart attack and collapsed.
Other officers performed CPR and also used an AED, but were unsuccessful in reviving Officer Feliciano. He was transported to Lutheran Medical Center where emergency room doctors and nurses continued emergency care efforts. They were unsuccessful in their resuscitation efforts also.
Officer Feliciano served the New York City Police Department for 21 years. He was assigned to the 28th Precinct. He is survived by his wife and two children.
