In Memoriam – Officer Josh WilliamsChief Chuck Edge of the Waxahachie Police Department stated that Officer Josh Williams was killed in a two vehicle crash about 1:30am Saturday morning when his patrol car was struck broadside by a drunk driver.

Officer Williams was responding to a disturbance at a fast food restaurant in the 600 block of Highway 77 at the time.  He had arrived at the scene and was turning into the parking lot when his patrol car was struck on the passenger side by a Chevrolet Suburban that was traveling north bound.  The SUV was being operated without its headlights on.

Officer Williams, 44 and a 17-year veteran of the department, was transported to Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas via Medivac helicopter and remained in police custody in Dallas this morning following treatment for his injuries.  The crash investigation is being conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officer Williams is survived by his wife and three children.  Officer Josh Williams, gone but never forgotten.
