Chief Scott Jones of the Denham Springs (Louisiana) Police Department sadly reports the death of Motor Officer James E. Foster Jr.

Officer Foster, 39, driving his 2012 Harley Davidson police motor unit and two other marked patrol units were responding to a personal injury automobile crash with their lights and sirens activated when a civilian driver made a left turn in front of him. He was unable to avoid a collision and struck the car. Officer Foster was thrown from his motorcycle and was catapulted over the car, landing 80 feet down the roadway.

He was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in critical condition. He remained in the intensive care unit until he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Louisiana State Police Troop A is investigating the crash. The Honda driver was cited for fail to yield while making a left turn.
