Chief Chris Perket of the Brookfield Wisconsin Police Department has reported that Patrol Officer Don Bishop, 32, suffered a fatal heart attack while responding to a burglary call at approximately 11:00 pm Friday night.  He was responding to a home invasion in progress call near the intersection of Jaclyn Drive and Sierra Drive. His patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree.

Additional responding officers that were following him stopped and immediately pulled him from the vehicle and commenced CPR. He was transported by ambulance to Waukesha Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead Saturday morning.

Officer Bishop was a two-year veteran of the Brookfield Police Department.  He dedicated his life to public service. He also served with the Village of Eagle Police Department on a part-time basis.

His prior 10 years of public service included working at the Waukesha County and City of Oconomowoc Communications Centers as a dispatcher.  He worked as a reserve officer for the Mukwonago Police Department and the North Prairie Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT.

Officer Bishop graduated from Waukesha Technical College, where he majored in Criminal Justice prior to becoming certified as a police officer.  He also earned a Fire Science Degree certifying ng him as a firefighter.  He was a licensed EMT.
