Chief Ernest Finley of the Montgomery Police Department in Alabama sadly reports the death of Officer David Colley.

Officer Colley, 24, was responding to a call with his lights and siren activated. As he entered an intersection, Officer Colley’s patrol vehicle was struck broadside by a semi truck tractor and trailer combination vehicle that was proceeding on a green light. The impact was on the driver’s side door.

The semi truck driver was not injured, however, Officer Colley had sustained critical injuries and was transported to Baptist Medical Center-South for medical treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries

The Alabama State Police are conducting the Traffic Crash Investigation.

Officer Colley served the Montgomery Police Department for two years. He is survived by is wife and one year old daughter.
